INTRODUCTION:

God is not just a God of addition—He is the God of increase. From the very beginning, He blessed man and commanded him to “be fruitful and multiply.” Increase is the natural outflow of God’s blessing upon a life, and it is in His nature to multiply what we commit into His hands.

Many strive for increase through human effort alone, but Scripture reminds us that true increase comes from God. Paul planted, Apollos watered, but only God gave the increase. When we acknowledge this truth, we begin to shift our focus from self-dependence to God-dependence.

The God of increase does not work randomly. He increases those who align themselves with His purpose, His timing, and His Word. In this message, we will explore the pathways that open our lives to the God of increase and position us to experience His abundant multiplication.

1. GOD IS THE SOURCE OF ALL INCREASE

No matter how much we labour, without God, increase cannot be sustained.

a) Human effort is limited without divine input:

Paul said, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase” (1 Corinthians 3:6).

b) Every good and perfect gift comes from above:

God is the ultimate source of fruitfulness and progress (James 1:17).

c) Depending solely on man leads to frustration:

"Cursed is the man who trusts in flesh" (Jeremiah 17:5-6).

d) God brings increase in His own time and way:

He makes all things beautiful in His time (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Biblical Example: In Genesis 26:12-13, Isaac sowed in the land, and God caused him to increase a hundredfold, because God was the source.

2. OBEDIENCE AND ALIGNMENT WITH GOD ATTRACT INCREASE

Divine increase responds to a life that walks in God's will and instructions.

a) Obedience provokes divine multiplication:

God blesses those who diligently obey His commands (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).

b) Walking in God’s purpose aligns you with divine flow:

Where purpose is found, provision and increase follow (Romans 8:28).

c) Disobedience can hinder fruitfulness:

Saul’s disobedience cost him divine favour (1 Samuel 15:23).

d) Increase is the reward of a yielded heart:

God blesses those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11).

Biblical Example: Peter obeyed Jesus and launched into the deep—his obedience brought about a net-breaking increase (Luke 5:4-6).

3. SEED TIME AND HARVEST IS A DIVINE PRINCIPLE

The God of increase works with what you give Him; your seed is His raw material.

a) God multiplies what you sow:

“He who sows bountifully shall reap bountifully” (2 Corinthians 9:6).

b) No seed, no harvest:

The earth responds to seed—spiritual or physical (Genesis 8:22).

c) Your seed reflects your expectation for increase:

Giving in faith unlocks divine release (Luke 6:38).

d) The size of your harvest depends on the obedience of your sowing:

Stinginess restricts increase (Proverbs 11:24-25).

Biblical Example: The widow of Zarephath sowed her last meal and reaped divine sustenance throughout the famine (1 Kings 17:10-16).

4. GOD INCREASES THROUGH ABIDING IN CHRIST

Increase is the fruit of abiding in the true Vine—Jesus Christ.

a) Jesus is the Vine; we are the branches:

Without Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5).

b) Intimacy with God releases divine fruitfulness:

Abiding leads to answered prayers and spiritual growth (John 15:7-8).

c) Spiritual dryness leads to stagnation:

A disconnected branch cannot bear fruit (John 15:6).

d) When God increases you, it brings lasting impact:

The blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow (Proverbs 10:22).

Biblical Example: Joseph remained faithful and connected to God, and the Lord caused all that he did to prosper (Genesis 39:2-3).

5. DIVINE INCREASE IS MULTI-DIMENSIONAL

God does not increase in one area alone—He is the God of holistic prosperity.

a) He increases spiritually, financially, numerically, and in influence:

God delights in our total well-being (3 John 2).

b) Growth is part of your covenant heritage:

The path of the righteous shines brighter and brighter (Proverbs 4:18).

c) God’s increase is generational:

“May the Lord increase you more and more, you and your children” (Psalm 115:14).

d) Increase brings glory to God when used wisely:

The more we increase, the more we must glorify Him (Isaiah 43:7).

Biblical Example: The early Church grew spiritually and numerically because God added to them daily (Acts 2:47).

CONCLUSION:

Our God is a God of increase. He delights in prospering His people—not only in material things but in every area of life. True increase flows from God and is sustained by Him. When we understand this, we shift our focus from self-effort to divine alignment.

To walk in God’s increase, you must obey Him, sow faithfully, remain in Christ, and prepare your heart to glorify Him with every blessing. Increase is your portion, not by chance, but by covenant. As you position yourself rightly, you will encounter the God of increase.
