THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT
John 14:16-18; 2 Cor. 1:1-11 W. Max Alderman
INTRODUCTION: It certainly is wonderful knowing that as we encounter our problems and face our troubles that we have someone to rush to our side with encouragement. That is exactly the role of the Comforter. His comfort to us is by His design. May we see what the Scriptures says about the word comforter and the word comfort.
I. WHO IS IT THAT COMFORTS US? (Vv. 1-3)
A. The One Who Is “the Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ”. (V. 3a)
B. The One Who Is “the Father of Mercies”. (V. 3b)
C. The One Who Is “the God of All Comfort”. (V. 3c)
II. WHO IS IT THAT GOD COMFORTS? (V. 3C)
A. God Comforts “Us In All Our Tribulations”.
B. God Comforts Us So That We Can “Comfort Them Which Are In Any Trouble”.
III. Why Is It That God Comforts Us? (4b-11)
A. So “We Should Not Trust In Ourselves”. (V. 9)
B. So We Will Trust In “God Which Raised the Dead”. (V.9b)
CONCLUSION: This study shows us how we can find comfort in the Lord so that we can comfort those who also need comfort.
