The Glory Of Christ Lesson 3 Series

1. What two phases of Christ’s work does the writer point out? Messenger and High Priest (Hebrews 3:1).

2. What other double titles of Christ do we have? Author, Finisher (12:2), Shepherd, Bishop (1 Peter 2:25), Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and End (Rev. 1:8).

3. While fully admitting the grandeur of Moses, what is pointed out concerning Christ? Worthy of more glory (v. 3).

4. How does the writer illustrate the superior position of Christ? Christ the builder, but Moses is a servant (vv. 3-4).

5. What was the position of Moses in the house of which Christ was the Builder? Moses servant (vv. 4-5).

6. What was the real heart of the message through Moses? Christ was the theme of Moses (Luke 24:27, 44).

7. What did Jesus say of Moses? If you believed Moses, you would believe Me (John 5:46).

8. What is Jesus’ place in relation to the saints? We are only the houses; Christ is in charge (v. 6).

9. The writer shows that as unbelief, in the old dispensation, had prevented many Israelites from realizing the blessing of God – so now, unbelief would rob many of the spiritual blessings of the New Covenant (vv. 7-19). What three attitudes of many Israelites provoked God against them? Tempted, proud, saw My works (vv. 8-9).

10. What should we learn from the Israelites who, in the face of a glorious revelation of God, murmured and rebelled against God? “Do not tempt God … take heed lest he fall” (1 Corinthians 10:9-12).

11. What word do you find emphasized in verses 7, 13 and 15? Today.

12. What warning does the writer now drive home to the Hebrews he was addressing? Depart from the living God (v. 12).

13. The opening words are literally an evil heart of unbelief (v. 12). This is a heart resisting the will of God, rejecting all evidence and persuasion.

14. What is the lesson? The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). Because of this trickiness of the old nature, what must Christians do? Exhort one another (v. 13).

15. Is anyone a real partaker of Christ who does not go all the way with Him? No – we must go all the way with Christ (v. 14; cf. Philippians 1:6).

16. The apostle was not assured that all the Hebrews who professed to acknowledge Jesus as their Messiah had really been born again. If they were, they would certainly not be going back to Judaism, as some in the Old Testament longed for after Egypt and failed to get into Canaan (vv. 16-18). What is it that kept Israelites out of Canaan and will keep millions out of Heaven? Unbelief (v. 19).

If you have never really accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, would you do it right now? Do not delay or put it off. If you would like to receive Christ by faith, pray this simple prayer in your heart:

Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and rose again the third day. I repent of my sins. By faith I receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior. You promised to save me, and I believe You, because You are God and cannot lie. I believe right now that the Lord Jesus is my personal Savior, and that all my sins are forgiven through His precious blood. I thank You, dear Lord, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
