Summary: Christmas
The Gift
In our Sunday school party today we talked about how the wise men came from afar to worship the new born king. How they brought gifts for Jesus and worshipped Him. But who were these wise guys and why did they journey so far?
- Magi, wise men, astrologers from east of Israel
- God-fearing
[Read Matthew 2:1-8.]
So their journey to find the King of the Jews goes on. But I wonder what was going on back home while they traveled eastward. I mean, if these guys had wives back in the east, what did they think about their quest? Well, lets find out.
[“Wise Men’s Wives” drama.]
So while the wise men’s wives are back home wondering what’s going on with their husbands, their journey continued.
[Read Matthew 2:9-12.]
So the wise men found Jesus and:
- Worshipped Him
- Gave Him gifts
- Obeyed Him, (Herod)
What gifts did the wise men give Jesus?
Gold, frankincense and myrrh.
And today, in the tradition of the wise men, we exchange gifts at Christmas.
Kids: Best gifts?
Adults: Worst gifts?
My best and worst gift was actually the same gift!
[Bible for Christmas story.]
[Read John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9.]
[Present demonstration.]
[Invitational prayer.]
