Summary: In this sermon , we will explore the biblical principles of being fruitful disciples, producing much fruit for Jesus, and living a life that is pleasing to Him.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to be productive and godly, bearing much fruit for the glory of God. In this sermon , we will explore the biblical principles of being fruitful disciples, producing much fruit for Jesus, and living a life that is pleasing to Him.
The Parable of the Vine and the Branches
In John 15:1-8, Jesus teaches us about the importance of being connected to Him, the True Vine, in order to produce fruit. He says, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful" (John 15:1-2).
This parable emphasizes the need for us to abide in Christ, to be connected to Him, in order to produce fruit. When we are connected to Him, we will bear much fruit, but when we are not, we will wither and die.
The Fruit of the Spirit
In Galatians 5:22-23, Paul lists the fruit of the Spirit, which includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are the qualities that should characterize our lives as followers of Jesus Christ.
When we are walking in the Spirit, we will produce these fruits, and they will be evident in our lives. We will be loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled.
Being Productive with the Gospel
In 2 Timothy 2:2, Paul encourages Timothy to be productive with the Gospel, saying, "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others."
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to be productive with the Gospel, sharing it with others, teaching them, and making disciples. We should be intentional about sharing our faith with others, and we should be training others to do the same.
Being Godly
In 1 Timothy 4:7-8, Paul encourages Timothy to be godly, saying, "Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to be godly, living lives that are pleasing to Him. We should be intentional about training ourselves to be godly, studying God's Word, praying, and seeking to live lives that are honoring to Him.
Conclusion
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to be productive and godly, bearing much fruit for the glory of God. We should be connected to Him, the True Vine, producing the fruit of the Spirit, being productive with the Gospel, and being godly. May we seek to live lives that are pleasing to Him, and may we bear much fruit for His glory.
