Summary: A message on how we can defeat our enemy following the example of David.

THE FIVE STONES

1 Samuel 17:38-51

INTRO: We are all familiar with the story of how little David, who was just a young lad, went to battle against Goliath, a giant in the land in those days, and how David, armed with only a sling and five stones, defeated this giant.

Today, we are facing a giant much more terrible than the giant that David faced, and yet we can slay this giant with only five stones. Just now, we want to talk about these five stones.

I. DAVID’S VICTORY OVER GOLIATH.

A. Goliath had a full suit of armor.

B. David refused to wear any armor.

C. Goliath underestimated David’s power.

D. David won the victory.

II. THE BATTLE WE MUST FIGHT.

A. Our giant is fully suited in armor.

B. Just as David, we should refuse armor.

1. Saul, who offered David his armor later proved to be

David’s enemy.

2. We might get comfortable wearing the armor and think

we are safe from the enemy.

C. Our giant underestimates our power also.

III. THE FIVE STONES THAT WE HAVE FOR THE BAT

TLE.

A. Christ.

B. Salvation.

C. The Bible.

D. Prayer.

E. Christian Living.

CONC: If we employ these five stones mentioned here, and put them to use in our lives, we can defeat the giant in our day just as David did in his day.
