Sunday Night

Hebrews 1:1-3 (NKJV)

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Hebrews 1:1-3 (MB)

God, who in times past and different methods and ways spoke of the unspeakable, in the time past, He God spoke always to our ancestors, through the appointed prophets. (MB)

But now in these last days, he has spoken to us through his Son, our Savior. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he made the universe and everything in it. (MB)

The Jesus Christ, who is the Son, of God, reflects God’s own glory, and everything about him represents God exactly. He sustains the universe by the mighty power of his command. After he died to cleanse us from the stain of sin, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God of heaven. (MB)

Being the image of God, Jesus Christ exhibits five characteristics that set him high above all others. These characteristics prove that he is who he says he is. As Christians we are to be Christ like, a reflection of him.

As Christians we are to exhibit characteristics of Christ in our lives. Let’s look at the five characteristics of Jesus Christ and see if we can see any parallel between Jesus Christ and us.

1. He has divine support.

We have divine support.

Jesus Christ is divinely supported by God the Father and the Holy Spirit.

God is our father; Jesus Christ is our savior, and the Holy Spirit dwells in us.

It must therefore be safe to say that we too have divine support. We have great power and strength that we have inherited.

2. He has all power.

We have all power.

He is the creator, the alpha and omega. None can equal him or his power.

Mightier that the wind. Because he is the creator of the wind.

Stronger than the furry of a storm. Because he is the creator of the storm.

3. He can cleanse all sins.

Our sins are cleansed.

There is power in his blood.

4. He is exalted on high.

We shall be lifted up high.

We should exalt him on high. All praise should go to him.

5. He is high ranking.

We are heirs of his ranking.

There is no one that is above him, for he ranks above all.
