Summary: Do you know who prayed the first prayer of healing for others in the Bible?
Do you know who prayed the first prayer of healing for others in the Bible?
Genesis 20:17-18
17) So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.
18) For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.
Here we find that it was Abraham who prayed the first prayer for healing for Abimelech, his wife and maidservants to bear children. Now can you imagine the plight of this man; He is praying for others to have children and God in answer to his prayers blesses them with children, while as Abraham and Sarah are still childless.
What do we learn from this? Beloved, whatever God has asked you to do for others keep doing it faithfully even though your present circumstances may seem to be contrary to what you are called to do. You may be suffering with some kind of pain in your body but at the same time God may ask you to relieve the pain of others or pray for their healing. You may have financial problems but God may ask you to give something to somebody who is in need. Remember, obedience unlocks the blessings. Obedience opens the door. When you meet others need, God will meet your need.
Let us look at what God did to Abraham and Sarah soon after Abraham obeyed God by praying for Abimelech and his people to have children. Immediately the next verse says in Genesis 21:1-3 "And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac".
Do you know that Abraham's prayer for others brought the fulfillment of his own promise! Sometimes your miracle may be locked up in praying for others or helping those who have similar problems. In doing what God wants you to do for others even though they may be your enemies sometimes.
When Joseph interpreted and helped others with their dreams in the jail, God fulfilled his dream. Obey God and do what He tells you to for others and He will make it happen for you.
God bless you!!
