Summary: This is a short devotional about The Fear of the Lord
The Fear of the Lord
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
This is the theme for the book of Proverbs
This idea in one way or another is repeated throughout the entire book
This fear is a loving reverence for God that includes submission to His Lordship and to the commands of His Word
God is our king
But even as we stand in awe of Him we can rejoice
Proverbs was written to give “prudence to the simple
Knowledge and discretion to the young
And to make wise men wiser
Proverbs 1:4-5 To give subtlety to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. [5] A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
Acquiring wisdom and knowing how to avoid the pitfalls of folly
Will lead to health and success
Although Proverbs is a practical book dealing with the art of living
It bases wisdom solidly on the fear of the Lord
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge
