Summary: THIS STUDY ADDRESSES HEARING AND DOING THE WORD.

THE FAMINE OF DOING

INTRODUCTION: EZEKIEL (GOD IS STRONG) A MAJOR PROPHET WAS AMONG SOME THREE THOUSAND JEWS EXILED TO BABYLON BY NEBUCHADNEZZAR IN 597 B.C. WHILE IN EXILE, GOD APPOINTED HIM TO THE OFFICE OF PROPHET-PRIEST TO MINISTER TO THE JEWS.

SPIRITUAL INSIGHT: EZEKIEL 33:32 (NKJV) INDEED YOU ARE TO THEM AS A VERY LOVELY SONG OF ONE WHO HAS A PLEASANT VOICE AND CAN PLAY WELL ON AN INSTRUMENT; FOR THEY HEAR YOUR WORDS, BUT THEY DO NOT DO THEM.

STRONG’S ANALYTICAL CONCORDANCE (EZEKIEL 33:32) DEFINES HEAR AS “LISTENING, OBEY”. AN EAGAR CROWD APPEARED TO LISTEN TO THE PROPHET, RECOGNIZING THE PROPHET WAS ARTICULATE AND ELOQUENT. THE WORD PIERCED THEIR EARS BUT NOT THEIR DESIRE TO RESPOND TO HIS MESSAGE OF REPENTANCE. THEY LOVED THE ORATORY BUT NOT THE MESSAGE OF REPENTANCE FROM SIN.

READ JAMES 1: 22-25 THE UNITED STATES AND SOME OTHER COUNTRIES DO NOT HAVE A FAMINE OF THE WORD OF GOD. THERE IS DEFINITELY A FAMINE OF RECEIVING, OBEYING AND RESPONDING TO THE WORD! THERE IS CERTAINLY NOTHING WRONG WITH HEARING A GOOD SERMON OR LISTENING TO A BIBLE STUDY. THE NEXT STEP, HOWEVER, IS APPLYING (DOING) THE WORD. YOUR WILL MUST ALIGN TO HIS WORD!

APPLICATION: DOING FOLLOWS HEARING, OTHERWISE YOU DELUDE YOURSELF!
