Good morning, beloved family of God. It is indeed a privilege to be standing here before you today, in this sacred space, where we gather in unity and love, to share in the Word of God. It is in this Word, in the divine wisdom it imparts, that we find our refuge and our strength. Today, we will be focusing our hearts and minds on Psalm 91:15, a verse that speaks to the very core of our faith.
Psalm 91:15 says, "He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him." Isn't that an assurance that warms the soul? Isn't it a comfort to know that our cries do not fall on deaf ears, but are heard by a God who promises to be with us, to deliver us, and to honor us?
This verse brings to mind the words of the revered Christian author, Charles Spurgeon, who once said, "I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages." In these words, Spurgeon reminds us that even in the midst of our trials, we are being drawn closer to God, our Rock of Ages, our steadfast refuge.
Today, we will be focusing on three main points drawn from this beautiful verse - the promises of protection that God extends to us, His presence in our prayers, and the peace we can find through petition. As we reflect on these truths, may we be reminded of God's unwavering love for us, and His constant presence in our lives.
Let us pray. Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for the privilege of coming together as a family of believers to study Your Word. As we reflect on the truths found in Psalm 91:15, we ask that You open our hearts and minds, that we may gain a deeper understanding of Your love and faithfulness. Help us to fully grasp the depth of Your promises, the comfort of Your presence, and the peace that comes from laying our burdens at Your feet. Guide us, Lord, as we seek to apply these truths in our daily lives. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
May the Word of God enlighten us today, and may we find comfort, strength, and guidance in His promises.
When we look at the verse in Psalm 91:15, God is intimately involved in the lives of His people. He hears our cries, He is with us in our troubles, and He delivers us. This is a powerful promise of protection that we can hold onto.
The first aspect we can consider is the nature of this protection. God doesn't just watch from a distance. He is with us, right in the midst of our troubles. He is a present help in times of need. This is a comforting truth that we can hold onto in times of trouble.
The second aspect of this promise of protection is its comprehensiveness. God protects us from all things that can harm us. This doesn't mean that we won't face troubles or challenges. But it does mean that in the midst of those troubles and challenges, God is there, protecting us, keeping us safe.
Next is its certainty. God doesn't say that He might answer us or that He might be with us. He says that He will answer us and that He will be with us. This is a promise we can count on. It's not dependent on our circumstances but upon the unchanging character of God.
The fourth aspect of this promise of protection is its personal nature. God doesn't just offer this protection to a select few. He offers it to all who call on Him. This means that no matter who we are or what we're going through, we can call on God and He will answer us. He will be with us. He will deliver us.
In all these aspects, we see a God who is deeply committed to the well-being of His people. He is a God who hears, who is present, who delivers. He is a God who protects. And this promise of protection is not just for the here and now. It's a promise that extends into eternity.
