II Timothy 4:6-18

Paul had Focus!

Paul had the “Eye of the Tiger”

Eye of the Tiger = Focused on winning the prize in exclusion of all distractions!

Hebrews 12:1-3 “1- Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2- Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3- For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

Tigers:

- Tigers do not Purr

- All tigers have similar markings on their forehead, which tend to resemble the Chinese symbol Wang, which means, King.

- Even shaved of all its fur a tiger still had its stripes.

o "A tiger cannot change its stripes," meaning that you can’t change the base nature. Therefore you can have to overcome it.

- A tiger's most developed sense is the hearing.

- Tigers are solitary animals.

- Tigers are much focused animals.

In a fight between a Lion and a Tiger, scientifically speaking the Tiger is 90% likely to win.

This is primarily due their agility and accuracy.

They are much focused creatures.

We wrestle with lions daily.

Lions are “powers”, “forces” that lie outside of ourselves:

Circumstance and fate as it were.

Lions:

- A group of lions are called a pride.

- Lions are not solitary animals.

The tiger is your inner ferocity:

That is to say, Determination, Commitment, Focus.

I.E; "The eye of the tiger."

The tiger will not be denied.

Paul’s “tiger” (Focus) would not be denied.

"He that gently made the lamb hath made the tiger also." - William Blake

Life is a steam of decisions.

Paul’s life was a stream of decisions.

And every decision has an associated cost.

Some of the “cost” to consider:

Effort – Exertion, "the doing".

Time - Time cannot be replaced.

Omission(s) - Things not chosen (omitted) because of what was chosen.

Relationship(s) – Decision(s) change the relationship bonds we have (stronger or weaker).

Embarrassment(s) – Something you risk when you make decisions; “failure”.

Paul had the “eye of the tiger” – FOCUS!

Get FOCUSED on JESUS!

Get FOCUSED on the WORD!

Get FOCUSED!!!
