Summary: The verse started with response Jesus made to the earlier question asked by his Disciples “Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming? And of the end of the world?”

Jesus started His response with saying “Take heed” the need to taking heed cannot be overemphasized due to the fact that that time shall be filled with sweet error and deceits. 2 Pet 2:1-2; 2 Cor 11:13-15; 2 Thess 2:3.

Jesus went on to authoritatively answer the first question “when shall these things be?” Jesus made it clear that preceding His return (Rapture) (God willing in part 2, using the same chapter with other reference, I shall clear your doubts that this is same as the event of His second coming; God willing.), Desolations are decreed to be but the sons of God need not to be troubled but watchful and careful! Dan 9:24-27; Isa 26:20-21; Jn 14:1.

Some of the events of the last day that will usher the coming of the Lord in the clouds (sky) according to Matt 24:6-8 are already unfolding but the best of it is yet to come! 1 Thess 5:3; Rev 6:8; Isa 19:2; Luk 21:11; Zecha 14:13; Rev 6:12; Acts 2:19; Lev 26:18-29.

Verse 7 of our text will be a general experience to all people that lives on the face of the earth (Christians and Non-Christians) these time before the proper great tribulation.

But verse 9 is expressly to the Christians ( from the Apostle’s time when they were alive) to our time( the times after the Apostle’s time; i.e: the Lord’s General time till these present day) to the times after our time if all is not yet fulfilled for the Lord’s appearing in our time!

Christians all over the world should understand that as part of the programme of God, before the appearing of the Son of God in the clouds; they shall suffer great affliction, betrayer and rejection by false brethren and the world, some even to the point of death, all for the name of Jesus! Jn 16:2; Mk 13:12; Jn 15:19-20; Mic 7:5-6; Rev 2:10; Luk 21:12, 16-17; Matt 10:17-22; Jn 6:60-61.

These events will usher in the great tribulation with the emergence of falsehood that will result to the falling away from the way of God by some Christains all over the world. Matt 24:11-12, 24; 1 Tim 4:1; Mk 13:22; 1 Jn 2:18; Jam 5:1-6; Matt 10:22; Rev 2:4-5,10; Rms 2:7.

As all these events will be unfolding, the Gospel of the kingdom of heaven will be widely preached by the troubled and tormented Christians across the parts of the world. Verse 14 of our text; Eze 7:5-7; Rms 10:18; Rms 16:25-26; Rev 3:10; Eze 7:10; Matt 24:3.

At this point from verse 15-28 comes the beginning of the end of the world and it comes with a fierce great tribulation, such has never been and never will be, a tribulation fully powered by the chief antichrist which will come in two (2) phrase: (1. by falsehood, flatteries. 2. by Force and Strict Policies.) Before the appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ on the clouds. Rev 1:3; Dan 12:1, 11; Joel 2:2; Dan 9:27; Luk 21:20; Dan 11:31; Rev 16:17-21; Rev 13:13-14.

As I end this part 1, let us see verse 27-28. At the point of these great tribulation, the hearts of many will still be far away from God as it were in the days of Noah and Lot before the Rain and Fire came!

Christ’s coming will be with intense and vivid splendour. The lightning will fill the whole world; leaps from the east, and will not need a self-announcement like the false christ would, When the searching lightning of that day shall come it will penetrate the cell of the captive, etc. What an arrest will take place.

The world will be going on when Christ comes, as it does this moment. There will be signs, symptoms, and premonitory warnings that will lead into the great tribulation before Christ’s coming.

These signs are already unfolding till it gets to its Max! And the Max is only determined by God's own calendar!!!

Are you ready for these last days? Are you gonna accept Jesus as Lord and saviour today? Are you gonna serve God till the very end?

Remember it is he that overcomes till the end will be saved.
