Summary: Even wise men can do dumb things. Why did these wise men ever stop in their journey and ask wicked King Herod for advice?

Now, I have to remind you that:

There are consequences for “getting off track…”

1. Time is lost.

These Kings had lost precious time. You can have “forgiveness,” but you cannot have “relive-ness!” You will never be given back the time that you lost when you allowed yourself to be distracted.

2. Babies die.

If the wise men had never have talked with Herod, the hundreds of babies that were born at the time of Christ in Bethlehem, would not have been slain by wicked King Herod.

There are severe consequences with getting “off-track.” Babies die.

3. Families flee.

Think of how many dysfunctional families that there are this Christmas. So much of this is because of sin. The wise men had missed the mark, (sin) and Joseph and Mary had to uproot themselves and flee into Egypt.

Here is the messge:

How to get back on track...

1. Get away from the crowd.

As soon as the wise men got away from the city lights, the star reappeared in the sky.

2. Look up again.

We are told to look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

3. Renew your faith in the Word of God.

The wise men needed to reread Numbers 24:17. It was time for them to continue on with their faith walk.

4. Follow the star.

God gives you just enough revelation. It may come only in the night time, but follow the star!

5. Don’t look back.

After worshipping the Christ child, an angel took them not to go back the same way that they had come. Don’t look back!

Conclusion:

A wise man will yield himself to the wisdom of God.
