THE DOOMED AND THE DAMNED
REVELATION 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
I. THEIR DESCRIPTION
A. DESCRIBED AS COWARDS
“Fearful and unbelieving”
1. Fearful of poverty.
Mt 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
2. Fearful of persecution.
Matthew 13:21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
B. DESCRIBED AS CORRUPT.
1. Their ways were corrupt.
A. Perversion
1. Society calls it an “Alternate
Lifestyle”.
2. Scripture calls it an abomination.
Lev. 18:22, 20:13 Deut. 23:17,18
B. Prostitution
1. They are enticing.
Proverbs 9:14-18 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, To call passengers who go right on their ways: Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
2. They are expensive.
Proverbs 29:3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.
A. Also could cost you your
health.
B. Also could cost you your home.
C. Absolutely cost you your honor.
2. Their worship was corrupt.
“Sorcerers and idolaters”
A. We are to flee from these people.
B. We are not to follow these people.
1. They are deceitful.
2. They are demonic.
C. DESCRIBED AS CRUEL
“Murderers”
1. What causes someone to murder?
2. What constitutes a murderer?
1Jo 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
D. DESCRIBED AS CUNNING
“Lying”
1. Lying is serious.
2. Lying must be stopped.
Ephesians 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
II. THEIR DESTINY
Shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
A. WHERE THERE IS NO REST.
B. WHERE THERE IS NO RECOVERY.
