2 CHRON 7:12 - 22 THE DIVINE BLUEPRINT FOR REVIVAL 1. THE PEOPLE ADDRESSED 14 “If my people, which are called by my name… A. GOD’S PEOPLE ARE A DIVINELY CALLED PEOPLE. 1. A CALLED OUT PEOPLE. Ekk lesia - "church" in the New Testament. means "called out". The church is called out by God through Jesus Christ in the Gospel. Called out of Darkness into Light, Called out of Evil into God, - out of Sin into Salvation (a) Called from the Bondage of Sin. - Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness (b) Called from the Barreness of Sin. Rom 6:21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. (c) Called from the Blindness of Sin. Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 2. A CALLED IN PEOPLE. - into the glorious liberty and light of the children of God. 3. A CALLED UP PEOPLE. Called up one day to ever be with the Lord (John 14:3). B. GOD’S PEOPLE ARE A DIVINELY CLEANSED PEOPLE. We have been: 1. CLEANSED FROM SOMETHING—“SIN” Rom 5:20 But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 2. CLEANSED WITH SOMETHING—“THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST”. 1 Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, such as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot 3. CLEANSED FOR SOMETHING— HIS PRAISE “HIS WORKMANSHIP”. Eph 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” workmanship-literally, "a thing of His making"; "handiwork." Here the spiritual creation, not the physical, is referred to (Eph 2:8, 9). C. GOD’S PEOPLE ARE A DIVINELY CLOTHED PEOPLE. Philippians 3:7-9“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.”
2. THE PEOPLE ASSESSED 14b“…shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways…” God Is Searching For:- A. HUMILITY IN ATTITUDE. Humility means: 1. GOD COMES FIRST Matt 6:33 Seek ye first the kingdom of God, 2. OTHERS COME SECOND. Gals 6:10 tells us—“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. 3. SELF COMES LAST. Jesus said If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23). 1 Cor 10:33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. B. HONESTY IN ACTIVITY. "And Pray" for - God’s presence, power, and purpose
1. HOW TO PRAY? : DIRECTLY. Hebs 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” SIMPLY . Matthew 7:7“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. SINCERELY. Matt 21:22“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” 2. WHEN TO PRAY? : “Pray without ceasing” “Men ought always to pray” 3. WHY TO PRAY? : James 4:2b tells us—“…ye have not, because ye ask not. C. HUNGER IN APPETITE. and seek my face, Matt 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. 1. WE DISCOVER HIS WILL THROUGH PRAYER. 2. WE DISCOVER HIS WORD IN PRAYER. It is enriching. enabling. enlightening. 3. WE DISCOVER HIS WORK BY PRAYER. D. HONOUR IN ASPIRATION. “turn from their wicked ways.” THE WAY OF COVETOUSNESS. OF WORLDLINESS. OF LUKEWARMNESS.
