THE DEVIL,S BEST BAIT

Text: Hebrews 2:15 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

Isaiah 5:11 Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!

12 And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they

regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.

13 Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it

The Devils tricks are to conceal the trap,comouflage the odor, confound the location, catch the game.

(1) DISOBEYS THE LAWS OF GOD Isaiah 5:11-14

A. Violates God’s Word

B. Violence leaves its mark.

C. Vulgar language is its message.

(2) DILUDES THE MIND

Gen:9 :21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

Gen;19:33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

Proverbs 20: 1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

A. Lose mental control -- Brakes off

B. Lack of moral courage --- Unable to stop.

C. Lust motivates the conscience --- Downhill full speed.

(3) DESTROYS THE HEALTH .

1st Cor: 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

A. Enslaves the appetite .

B. Effects the appearance.

C. Erodes the affections

(4) DISTURBS THE UNBORN

Ezek. 16; 44 Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use this proverb against thee, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter.

A. Makes the unborn baby drunk as the drinker.

B. Makes the unborn baby have a hang-over

c. Makes the unborn crave another drink.

(5) DOOMS THE SOUL

Gal:5; 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

A. Deceive the morals to think nothing is wrong.

B. Deadens the meaning of living for only anther drink.

C. Dooms the lost soul that dies without Christ.

(6) DEADENS THE FEELING

Proverbs 23: 29Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?

30They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.

31Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.

32At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.

33Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.

34Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.

35They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

A. Beat up without knowing it .

B. Bloody and bruised without understanding it.

C. Broke, all money spent that was needed at home.

(7) DELIVERANCE CAN BE RECEIVED

John 8: 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

A. Can be free from the crave.

B. Can have faith in Christ as Lord and Savior.

C. Come now for forgiveness all of sin.
