REVELATION 2:1-7

This church represents the church age in history between Pentecost and 100 A.D.

Ephesus literally means "desirable".

Ephesus was the chief city of the province of Asia. It was the metropolitan city that influenced both Europe and Asia. It was known for its possession of one of the seven wonders of the world "The Temple of Diana".

It was pastored by Paul, Apollos and Timothy. See Acts 19:1-28.

There are four elements about the church that should be considered. Its:

I. RICH HERITAGE 2:1

Jesus was in their midst.

II. COMMENDABLE MINISTRY 2:2-3

Notice the ministry of this church:

A. Service (works v-2) Er-gon : toil

B. Sacrifice (labour v-2) kop-os : weariness, result

C. Steadfastness (patience v-2)

D. Stand (bear v-2)

E. Suffering (borne v-3) endurance

F. Strength (not fainted v-3)

III. SERIOUS PROBLEM 2:4 (Luke 10:38-42)

IV. GREAT OPPORTUNITY 2:5-6

A. Remember

B. Repent

C. Return

D. Renew "tree of life
