Summary: Jesus in heaven.
THE CROSS IN HEAVEN
The title given to Christ the Lamb is used 28 times in Revelation, presents our Lord in his sacrificial aspect, and thus constitutes wherever it is used a direct reference to the cross.
(1.)The cross is our only title to Heaven and Glory.
Rev.7: 9After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
10And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
11And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
12Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
13And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
(2.) The Cross is the centre of Heavens Government
Rev. 4: 2And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
4: 5And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
6And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
(3)The cross is the subject of Heavens rejoicing
Rev.19: 7Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
(4.)The Cross is the source Heaven’s life.
Rev. 22: 1And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
(5) The Cross is the brilliance of heavens light.
Rev.21: 23And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
(6) The cross is the scene of Heavens worship.
Rev.21: 22And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
(7) The cross is the theme of Heavens song
Rev 5: 9And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
(8) The Cross is the basis of heavens triumph
Rev.12: 11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
(9)The cross is the incentive of heavens service
Rev.22: 3And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
(10) The cross will be the terror of our enemies.
Rev.6: 12And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
