Summary: The Work Of The Comforter

I JOHN 4:4 & JOHN 14:16, 18, 26 THE COMFORTER

Ye are of God little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Them - refers to those who are operating or controlled by the spirit of anti-Christ.

Anti-Christ means against the anointed or the anointing.

There is a spirit in the world that works to try and stop the anointing, that tries to block the work of faith.

Satan is always endeavoring to bring the saints of God into a place of discouragement. He is accusing (tempting). He is trying to divide.

But this scripture tells us that if we have been born of God, greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world..

If you have been born of God, then the One that is in you, is the same one that cast Satan out of heaven.

Romans 8:11 tells us He is the same that raised Jesus from the dead, and shall also quicken your mortal bodies.

I want to talk about the Holy Ghost, about the One who dwells within those that are born again, born of the Spirit, born of God.

Jesus tells us in the 14th chapter of John that the Holy Ghost is a Comforter unto us. Some Christians talk like He came to whip and scold and afflict (wood shed Christians) and that is just not so. The Holy Ghost will teach us if we are teachable.

Jesus never said, Come unto me and I will whip you raw. Be careful if you’ve been talking like that, because that’s the way demons spoke about Him. They said, have you come to torment us?

Jesus said we could receive a Comforter, a Spirit of Truth, in verse 18 of John 14.

He said, I will come to you.

Verse 20 He said: At that day ye shall know: that I am in my Father, ye are in me and I am in you.

In Isaiah 51:12 the Words of the Lord said: I even I am He that comforteth you.

The American College Dictionary defines Comforter, 1. Holy Spirit, 2. One who comforts.

Comfort - the work of a Comforter

1. To soothe in time of grief

2. To relieve affliction

3. To encourage

4. To satisfy bodily or physical needs

5. To strengthen by inspiring with hope

6. To relieve worry or mental anguish

7. To lessen or remove pain, hardship, or discomfort.

All these things the Holy Ghost came to do and more.

He not only came to comfort, but in Acts 1:8 Jesus said: But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you.

To be full of the Holy Ghost is to be full of power.

I am trying to cause us to become God inside minded, because what flows in the vine flows in the branch.

If you have received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, you didn’t receive an IT, you received HIM. The Author of all power is living in you.

STOP IGNORING GOD IN YOU!

When Jesus said it is finished and the curtain was rent from top to bottom, the Holy Ghost moved out of the man made temple and has not dwelt there since.

HE NOW DWELLS IN US!

The fruits of righteousness are not just "being good", they are

HEALING THE SICK -- CASTING OUT DEVILS -- DOING THE SAME WORK THAT JESUS DID IN HIS EARTHLY MINISTRY.

We have this treasure in earthen vessels.

We have received power, Luke 10:19 says, over all the power of the enemy.

He didn’t say the enemy had no power, but He said we have more.

Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

Jesus told the woman at the well, The water that I give, whosoever drinketh of the water that I give him, it shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

A place that water runs into and doesn’t flow out of becomes a swamp, a stagnant place.

We are to be a river of water that can be for service to others.

Not just for personal edification, but also so I can release that comfort to others.

THE COMFORT OF THE HOLY GHOST KNOWS NO BOUNDS.

We have said He is our comfort and our power, our strength.

He is also come to help us pray. Romans 8:26 WE KNOW NOT WHAT WE SHOULD PRAY FOR AS WE OUGHT, BUT THE SPIRIT ITSELF MAKETH INTERCESSION FOR US WITH GROANINGS WHICH CANNOT BE UTTERED.

He is our teacher, who will lead us and guide us into all truth.

The Bible says He will bring things to my remembrance.

The Holy Ghost has come to -- help -- teach -- reveal -- empower, but we must yield to the Spirit.
