Summary: Jesus is watching over me, and the circle will not be broken. It is time to give our lives all the way over to the things of God and know that there is nothing that the enemy can do to us because we are covered by the Blood of Jesus.

The Circle Will Not Be Broken

Psalm 57:1-11

1 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.

3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.

4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.

6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.

7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.

9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.

10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.

11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.

I have entitled this today: “The Circle Will Not Be Broken”

This Psalm was probably written by David when he was being chased by Saul, and was probably in the cave of Engedi.

This was one of the most critical times in David’s life.

The sweet singer of Israel could not trust in any man to save him.

If he was to be saved, then the Lord alone would have to do it.

David’s trust in the Lord is overwhelmingly here and it must be a lesson to us.

Psalm 57:2

2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.

The words “all things” are not in the original Hebrew Text; therefore this verse is a blank check.

Whatever is needed, God will do, but we need to keep our petitions in the scope of His will.

Even though this is a Psalm of David, even more so it is a Psalm of the greater Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Verse three proclaims Christ’s descent into the real of the dead; it also proclaims His Glorious Ressurection from the grave.

Psalm 57:4

4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

In His earthly ministry, our Lord was constantly beset by the opposition of demonic spirits.

The latter part of this verse speaks of the hatred of man directed at the Messiah.

Psalm 57:5

5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.

In this verse, the Holy Spirit addresses the Lord Jesus Christ and does so as God.

Jesus needs to be exalted; He needs to be lifted up within our lives and our walks.

Joh 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

There are times, as believers that we will go through the fire but when we do, we need to remember who we belong to and what God’s Word says.

We are the Property of Jesus Christ; we were purchased by His Blood.

Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Jesus in the Sun

I dreamed that we were at Minnie’s and I knew that there was a storm coming. I knew that it was going to be a bad one. I knew that we had to find a place to hide. I knew that we could not hide in the house because it might fall on us. I decided that the best place was an open field by Mary and Terry’s. I looked up at the sun and I saw Jesus’ face. I shook my head in amazement and looked again and He was gone. I knew that He was looking after us. We got in a circle and we started to pray.

Interpretation

At Minnie’s- represents the foundation of my life

I knew that there was a storm coming. I knew that it was going to be a bad one.

Christians will face storms in their lives, and at times they will be bad ones.

David, while he was on the run from Saul, knew whom he believed in.
