The Church With No Attitude
Rev. 3:14-22
I. The Description of the Judge (v. 14)
A. He is the “Amen” – The Final Authority
“….so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.” – John 5:26-27
B. He is the “Faithful & True Witness” - The full revelation of God
“…He who has seen Me has seen the Father..” – John 14:9
C. He is the “Beginning of the Creation of God” – He is the sovereign creator of all things, including the church
“All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.” – John 1:3
II. The Description of the Lukewarm Church Member (v. 15-17)
A. A Lukewarm Church Member is:
1. Only Half-committed to Christ
“…If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his
cross daily and follow me.” – Luke 9:23
2. Only half-committed to proclaiming Christ - I John 2:22-23
3. Only half committed to the church
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some is…” – Hebrews 10:25
4. Only half committed to supporting the church
“Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.”- I Cor. 16:2
B. Most Lukewarm Church Members Think They Spiritually OK (v. 17)
1. Some are deceived concerning their salvation
2. Some are deceived concerning their fellowship
3. Some are deceived concerning their service
III. The Remedy that is Presented (v. 18-20)
A. They must first turn from themselves to Christ
1. They needed spiritual gold to satisfy the soul
2. They needed the white garment of Christ’s righteousness
3. They needed the light of Christ to give them spiritual eyes
B. They must repent with haste before it is too late (Luke 13:1-5)
C. They must trust completely by faith in Christ for salvation
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life” – John 5:24
