THE CHURCH OF TRANSITION Joshua 1:1-9

Introduction:

. The word transition means the passing from one

condition, place, or activity to another.

. From the lukewarm to the hot; from death to life

. From the passive to the active.

. From the talk to the walk; from lack to abundance

. From mediocrity to action;from meetings to ministry

. From the mechanical to the Spirit moving

. This is what the nation of Israel was about to do

. From the wilderness to the wonderful. They were about

to cross over the Jordan River into the promised land

. We need some, not traditional churches (existing,

making do, surviving, status quo)but some

transitional churches that will make a difference

and cross over for Christ.

. What will we need to do?

1.Don’t be DISTRACTED by the PAST (v.1-2a)

. Moses is dead!

. Phil. 3:12-16; 1 Peter 4:3

. One man said,"No matter how hard the past,you can

always begin again today".

2.Don’t be DEAF to His PROMPTINGS (v.2b)

. Arise and go!

. Psalm 81:8-16; Matthew 13:9-23

3.Don’t DOUBT His PROMISES (v.3-4) Heb.10:38, 11:6

4.DEPEND on His PROTECTION (v.5a)

. Deut.7:24; 11:23

. Joshua 23:9

5.Be DIRECTED by His PRESENCE (v.5b,9c)

. With Moses - Exodus 3:12

. Never leave you - Deut.31:6-7; Matt.28:20

. Abraham - Genesis 15:1; Isaiah 41:10; Jer.1:7-8

6. DESIRE His POWER (v.6a,7a,9a)

. Strong and courageous / Eph. 6:10-18

. Deut. 31:6a,7a

7.DELIGHT in His PRIZES (v.6b,8b)

. Genesis 12:7; 15:18-21; 17:8; 26:3; 28:13

. Inheritance, prosperity and good success!

. The blessings of God!

8.DO His PRINCIPLES (v.7b-8a)

. Observe all; keep
