INTRODUCTION: The Beatles: “Help”

Help, I need somebody,

Help, not just anybody,

Help, you know I need someone, help.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,

I never needed anybody’s help in any way.

But now these days are gone, I’m not so self assured,

Now I find I’ve changed my mind and opened up the doors.

Help me if you can, I’m feeling down

And I do appreciate you being round.

Help me, get my feet back on the ground,

Won’t you please, please help me?

And now my life has changed in oh so many ways,

My independence seems to vanish in the haze.

But every now and then I feel so insecure,

I know that I just need you like I’ve never done before.

TRANSITION THOUGHT: We all need help! Often we think we don’t, but we all need help! The only true source of help is from Our Father in Heaven. Our text for tonight speaks of help sought and help brought. The exciting thing about this text is that it explains why help takes longer than we like and just how we can get the help that we so desperately need!

QUESTION: DO WE TAKE OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR HEAVENLY FATHER SERIOUSLY?

II. THE HELP OF HEAVEN IS DEVINE INTERVENTION VV. 5-12

A. DEVINE INTERVENTION IS A HEAVENLY PRIEST VV. 5-6

B. DEVINE INTERVENTION IS A PERSONAL ENCOUNTER VV. 7-12

TRUTH: OUR GOD OPPERATES ON A PERSONAL LEVEL

QUESTION: DO WE WANT GOD TO GET PERSONAL WITH US?

TRUTH: THE ENEMY OF OUR SOULS MAY SLOW THE PROCESS, BUT OUR GOD WILL NOT BE STOPPED!

TRUTH: OUR GOD IS OUR HELP AND STRENGTH!

QUESTION: WHAT IS OUR SOURCE OF HELP AND STRENGTH?

CONCLUSION: Daniel learned a valuable lesson early in his life: you can count on God to give you strength to do far more than you could ever imagine and it all flows through prayer. The real issue is our desire to be in relationship with God and to receive His help. It is all a gift free for our taking! Let’s get together in groups of two or three and pray about one issue. You decide and you pray and know God will work on our behalf!!
