Summary: My purpose is to show young and old people alike how important it is to be properly clothed and carrying the proper weapons while fighting our spiritual battles.

“The Christian’s Warfare with Christ”

Text: Ephesians 6:10-17

¶ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (KJV)

Statement of Purpose: My purpose is to show young and old people a like how important it is to be properly clothed and carrying the proper weapons while fighting these spiritual battles.

Introduction: This sermon will show how we are to properly be clothed and armed to fight in this spiritual battle.

I.What should we be like spiritually?

II.What must we do to get ready?

Eph. 6:11a “Put on the whole armour of God,”

III.What are we going to do with this armour?

Eph. 6:11b “that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

IV.What does the armour consist of from head and going down to the feet that we are to put on?

A. Helmet: This is used to protect the head. There are various forms embossed with many kinds of figures.

Eph. 6:17a “And take the helmet of salvation,”

C. Girdle: This is used for the loins to brace the armour tight against the body, and support daggers, swords, and other weapons.

Eph. 6:14a “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,”

D. Brazen Boots: These were used for the feet to

cover the front of the leg. There was a certain kind of sole often used to protect the feet from rocks and thorns.

Eph. 6:15 “And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;”

V.What types of weapons will we carry?

A. Defence weapon- The Shield: used to protect the body from blows and cuts.

Eph. 6:16 “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

B. Offence weapon-The Sword: used to destroy

our enemy and bring him to surrenders. Other weapons that were used were the spear, lance, battle-ax, club, bow and arrows, and sling.
