Summary: Thank you Jesus for that redeeming precious blood!

1 Peter 1:18-19-knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot (NKJV)

1 Peter 1:18-19-For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. (NLT)

Corruptible Things….

1-Church Membership, it is saying I am committed to this church, just like you said you were committed to your spouse, for richer or poorer, in sickness or in health, good times or bad times, when you join the local church, you are saying I’m going to support this local church when we are doing good financially and when we are not doing good financially, I’m going to support this church when we have problems and when we don’t have problems, I’m going to support this church when have a preacher and when we don’t have a preacher, I’m going to support this church when the preaching good and when the preaching bad! Lol

Church membership is great, it is God’s ideal for every believer, but church membership does not save you!

2-Baptism-It is a outward show of the change that has happened to you, it is a reflection of what Christ has done for you, it is laying down that old life and picking up a new life!

Baptism does not save you, baptism only reflects what has happen to you!

3-Lord’s Supper, Giving, Serving, Evangelizing, all these things are great, all these things are needed in the Christian life, but if you do not have Christ, they are corruptible things, because they can make you feel righteous, holy, they can make you feel that you are right with God!

Remember the Pharisees prayed, fasted, tithe, went church and still went to Hell!

That’s how deceptive sin is, you don’t have to commit these great big horrible sins, (Sodom and Gomorrah), any sin (no matter how religious it may seem) that keeps you from accepting Jesus as your Savior and realizing He is the only way to Heaven, is a one way ticket to Hell!

Listen to how people were acting when God sent His judgment upon the earth, when He sent the flood!

Matthew 24:37-39-But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

It doesn’t say they were fornicating, or smoking, chewing, dancing, it said they were eating, drinking, marrying, basically they were doing every day stuff, but they were doing everyday stuff without God being involved in it!

God Paid A Ransom To Save You From The Empty Life You Inherited From Your Ancestors.

That is what one translation says this text means!

Whether we are doing religious things or everyday things, if Christ is not in our heart, or life will be empty and meaningless!

I know what everybody says about sin-“Everybody's doing it!”

“Yes, and God is going to hold everybody accountable for doing it!”

Somebody's blood has to pay for your sins, it’s either your blood or Jesus’ blood.

That blood has to be applied, just like it did in Egypt, it had to be applied on the doorpost. (You have to accept and confess that Jesus died for your sins) it wasn't good enough that the lamb was without blemish, it wasn't good enough that the lamb was slain, it wasn't good enough that blood was kept in a basin, it wasn't till it was applied that it had the saving power!

You can ask God to apply that blood to your heart and life right now!
