The Blessings of the Blood of Jesus

Study Text: Hebrews 10:16 - 22.

Introduction:

- In ancient times, the crucifixion was one of the most brutal punishments that Romans imposed on criminals. The victim was severely tortured and ultimately nailed to a wooden cross.

-. This was the punishment that Jesus had to endure and much more, even though He had not committed any crimes. The suffering that He endured caused so much pain with immense loss of blood from His body.

-. Although He was the Son of God, He was also a man of flesh and blood which means He felt the agonizing pain of the lashes, the crown of thorns beat upon His head, and the piercing of the nails. The most important difference in the blood of Jesus in comparison to an ordinary man is that His blood is pure and has valued significance.

-. The Scripture reveals to us the amazing value of the Blood of Jesus and how it applies to our lives.

- When we begin to understand the benefits of the blood of Jesus, we will live a victorious life here on earth.

-. The following are some of the great blessings of the blood of Jesus:

1. The Blood of Jesus Cleanses our Sins

- The blood of Jesus is more than sufficient to wash away your sin and make you a new person.

- Jesus paid for our sins with His precious blood. So whenever the devil comes and condemns you of your sins or past mistakes, that is when you need to declare: I am Forgiven by the Blood of Jesus. 1 John 1:7

2. The Blood of Jesus Gives us a New Identity

- The blood of Jesus has made us Righteous and gives us a new identity which is called Righteousness.

The word Righteousness means Right Standing with God . In other words, we are 'right with God' by believing and receiving what the blood of Jesus has done for us.

We no longer ought to identify ourselves with past mistakes, shame, or guilt because we have a new identity: The Righteousness of God.

- The more we see ourselves righteous by faith through the blood of Christ we will live an overcoming life.

-. Faith in the blood of Jesus Christ also enables us to live the lifestyle that God desires for us to live.

Romans 3:24

3. The Blood of Jesus Gives us Authority Over the Devil.

- The blood of Jesus gives you Authority over the devil

The devil hates the blood of Jesus because he knows this is what defeated him.

- God, knowing that the devil is bloodthirsty, defeated him through the blood of His own Son Jesus Christ. We also who have received Jesus can overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb. It is only by the life that flows through the blood of Jesus Christ that we have Power and Authority over demon powers or any other situation. Revelation 12:11

4. The blood of Jesus gives us Peace

- One of the most precious blessings is that you are united with God through the Blood of Christ.

-. Where there is unity there is also Peace. Without Jesus blood, we are far away from God and we cannot know what true peace is.

-. Therefore, it is only through Jesus blood that we can truly enjoy peace in this life. Colossians 1:20, Ephesians 2:13

5. The blood of Jesus Establishes a Covenant of God with us.

- A Covenant is a solemn promise that must never be broken.

-. In the Old Covenant before Jesus shed His blood, people offered sacrifices to God with the blood of animals. The good news is that believers have a New Covenant with God.

- When Jesus shed His blood for us, this was the most valuable covenant He made with us for eternity.

2 Corinthians 5:17

-. We could never be a New Creation without accepting the fact that we are in the New Covenant.

6. The blood of Jesus has Redeemed us.

-. Many people boast about their good works or claim that their good deeds outweigh their wrongs. However, according to the scriptures, no amount of good works can save us or bring us to a relationship with God. It is only Through the Blood of Jesus, Not by Good Works.

- It is only God who was able to provide a way for us to be free from the bondage of sin. This was through His redemption plan. He redeemed us from our sins.

-. In other words, He bought us out of the hand of the enemy by sending His Son Jesus to shed His blood. That blood was the payment to deliver us from sin. Galatians 3:10, Colossians 1:14
