Revelation 14:13

Topic- The blessing in dying in the Lord

It is always a sad occasion when someone we have known for a long time has died and is no longer living with us. But yet according to Revelation 14:13, it says “Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord.” That is, if a person that we have known for a long time dies believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, we have a reason to celebrate that person’s death because when a person dies believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, that person has been passed from death into everlasting life in heaven; for the Apostle Paul tells us in 2nd Corinthians 5:8 that “to be absent from the body is to be present with Lord.” Someone once has said that death for the Christian is nothing but an open door that leads to everlasting life. There are scriptures in the bible that gives us assurance that if we die believing in the Lord Jesus Christ we shall have everlasting life. For example; John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but shall have everlasting life.”

John 3:36 says, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

John 5:24 says, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 6:47 says, Verily. Verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

I John 5:11-13 says, “And this the record, that God has given to us eternal life and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God.”

The reason why there is hope of everlasting life for the person who dies believing in the Lord Jesus Christ is because of who Jesus Christ is. Jesus Christ tell us in John 11:25-26 that “I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth on me, though he were dead yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.”

Also Jesus Christ tells us in Revelation 1:18 that “I am he that liveth, and was dead and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of heaven and hell.”

Because of what Jesus Christ had done for us on the cross, that is, He died for our sins, and in three days He rose up out of the grave with all power in his hands, we can have the assurance of everlasting life, and assurance of salvation when we trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

When a person dies believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, that person will live forever in the presence of Lord in heaven. That is why it is a blessing to die in the Lord Jesus Christ because when you die in Jesus Christ and you are living in the presence of the Lord in heaven, you won’t have to worry about sickness anymore.

You won’t have to worry about pain anymore.

You won’t have to worry about sorrow anymore.

You won’t have to worry about death anymore.

You won’t have to worry about crime anymore.

You won’t have to worry about stress anymore.

You won’t have to worry about heartaches anymore.

You won’t have to worry about setbacks or disappointments anymore.

You won’t have to worry about people lying on you or backbiting you anymore.

because when you are living in the presence of the Lord in heaven, there will be nothing but

everlasting joy, everlasting peace, and everlasting life.

Yes, it is a blessing to die in the Lord because when you die believing in the Lord Jesus, you will have a heavenly mansion awaiting for you because Jesus Christ says in John 14:1-6 “Let not your heat be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no man can come unto the Father but by me.”
