The Blame Game

Revelation 12:7-12

7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

12 ¶ Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

Verse seven pertains to Satan and all the Angels that followed him being cast out of Heaven which will take place during the midpoint of the great tribulation period.

Why God has allowed Satan and his followers to stay in Heaven all of this time we are not told, it is a mystery. But it will now be finished.

Revelation 12:8

8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

Satan during this time will be defeated, during this time it is not Satan who initiates this war but rather the Arc Angel Michel at the command of God.

Verse eight says, neither was their place found any more in Heaven.

This joins with the close of the book of Revelation, where the evil one has no place on earth as well.

His place will be in the place of torment for ever and ever according to Revelation 20:10.

Revelation 20:10

10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone,

where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Revelation 12:9 Says:

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

He is called the great Dragon because of his propensity to “steal, kill and destroy” that is according to John 10:10.

He is called the old serpent because in his first appearance in the Bible, he chose to work through a serpent; so he is the one who caused the serpent to be wryly subtle and treacherous.

Deception is his greatest weapon; he deceives and he himself is deceived.

Verse 9 says he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

This is pronouncing the beginning of the end for him.

Revelation 12:10

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

This verse is presenting the White robe wearers of Revelation 6:10.

Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ:

This presents the triumph of Christ; this is also referring to the fact that Christ will rule this world not Satan.

For the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

This is saying that either Satan or one of his fallen angels is before the Throne of God accusing the brethren constantly.

In the book of Job we see where Satan went to the Throne of God and he made accusations against Job.

Revelation 12:11

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

The power to overcome and to overwhelm the Kingdom of Satan is found exclusively in the Blood of the Sacrifice of the Son of God and our faith in that finished work.

And by the Word of their testimony, the testimony must pertain to the fact that our object of our faith is the cross.

This gives the Holy Spirit the ability to work in our lives.

Revelation 12:12

12 ¶ Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
