The Birth Of Christ What Dose It Prove?

Text: Luke 2:1-20

1. It Proves That God Is All-powerful.

a. God was controlling the events of the world to bring about fulfillment of prophecy. 2:1-6

I believe that even Satan could not have stopped this. God was in control!

b. Mary even proclaimed God’s Mighty power. Luke:1:49

Luke 1:49 (KJV) 49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

God's power was now to be demonstrated in a way never before witnessed by mankind.

.

The enormous power of God was to be demonstrated even in the birth of the Messiah! A miracle was to be performed through that of a virgin birth!

2. It Proves That Man Needed A Savior. 2:11

One day I was watching TV and a commercial for the movie superman came on.

What caught my ear was a small segment that said, “We don’t need a savior!” Satin

wants mankind to believe that very statement.

Do we need a Savior? Yes! Why?

Isaiah 53:6 (KJV) 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

a. We need a Savior because we are sinners.

b. We need a Savior because man’s way is insufficient.

c. We need a Savior to be reconciled to God.

3. It Proves That God Loves You And Me.

John 3:16 (KJV) 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 15:13 (KJV) 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

The word “LOVED” is an action word.

God did something because of His love.

Ephesians 2:4-5 (KJV) “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)”

1 John 3:1 (KJV) “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”

All of God’s Word Is Direct To His Love For Mankind

a. The Love of God is a strong powerful love.

Jeremiah 31:3 (KJV) “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”

It is not a weak love that can easily be destroyed. The love of God is an everlasting love which is willing to make any sacrifices for us.

Paul was sure that nothing could separate him from the love of Christ.

Romans 8:35 (KJV) “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”

b. The Love of God is a proven love.

It is not merely deceiving words but proved by the sacrificial death of Christ on the cross.

1 John 4:9 (KJV) In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

We can be certain that God loves us when we see how He sent His only Son to die for us

c. The Love of God is a pure love.

It has no ulterior motives. The world is filled with love with hidden motives. But the love of God is pure and unselfish.

Ephesians 3:19 II Corinthians 6:6 II Corinthians 8:8

d. The Love of God is patient.

It does not destroy us because of our imperfections.

2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

God is longsuffering and slow to anger because of His great love towards us. He patiently waits for us to be formed in His likeness. We must be grateful for His patient love towards us.

e. The Love of God is a providing love.

This kind of love I am talking about requires giving whatever is necessary. And that was Jesus! He gave all that was necessary, in Genesis 22:8 (KJV) ‘ And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering…”

But it does not stop their, because God loves us with a love that keeps on giving. Not only does it meet our need.

But God’s loving provision is for all eternity.

1 Corinthians 2:9 (KJV) “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
