Summary: This message deals with both good and bad desires that plague mankind. It reveals that when we have the right desires, we will live the right kind of life.

"The Believer’s Desire"

Text: Psalm 73:25-26

Intoduction-

DESIRES!!! We all have them. Sometimes they are

good, and sometimes they are bad. Scripturally

we could say that unfulfilled desires are the source

of all of the evil that exists in our world today.

James, the half-brother of Jesus said, "But every

man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own

lusts(desires), and enticed. Then when lust(desire)

hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin, and sin,

when it is finished, bringeth forth death." (1:14-15)

Again, in James 4:1-2 we read-"From whence cometh

wars and fightings among you? Are they not hence,

even of your lusts(desires) that war in your mem-

bers? Ye lust and have not, ye kill, and desire to

have, and cannot obtain; ye fight and war, yet ye

have not, because ye ask not."

So, it is because of unfulfilled desires that man-

kind does some of the evil things that we do. De-

sires can be holy, or unholy, good, or evil. Let’s

consider-

SOME HOLY, GOOD DESIRES SOME UNHOLY, EVIL DESIRES

Job. 13:3-"...to reason Deut. 5:21-"thy neighbor’

with God." wife..."

Rom. 10:1-Paul’s desire Gal. 4:21-"to be under

that Israel be saved the Law..."

Php. 1:23-"to depart and Acts 3:14-"a murderer to

be with Christ." be released..."

Col. 1:9-that believers Prov. 21:10-"evil"

be filled with knowledge 1st Tim. 1:7-"to be

1st Pet. 2:2-"the milk teachers of the Law..."

of the word..."

1st Tim. 3:1-"the office

of a bishop..."

What should a believer desire more than anything

else in this world?

-to know Christ more intimately

-to do the will of God

-to see the lost saved, and the church revived

-to do something great for the glory of God

-to please God

In John 12:20, we read about some Greeks who desired

to see Jesus. That was a wonderful desire! So

should we all, for He alone satisfies, and meets

our deepest needs.

WHY WE SHOULD DESIRE HIM

-because He is altogether lovely and pure &holy

-because He is our Saviour and Lord

-because He loves us as no other ever has or ever

will

HOW MUCH DO WE DESIRE HIM?

-more than human praise and recognition?

-more than our own life?

-more than wealth and fame?

-more than anything else, or anyone else?

As Peter said to the Lord in John 6-"Lord, to whom

shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life,

and we believe and are convienced that you are the

Christ, the Son of the living God."

No one else can save us. No one else can satisfy

us. Jesus alone.

Inv.-Lost sinner, how much do you deisre Him right

now? Is God doing a work in your heart? Are you

hungry and thirst for His righteousness, the right-

eousness that only comes through faith in Christ?

Then, come to Him now. He that cometh to Him He

will in no wise cast out. Come now.
