The Believer’s Covenant

Psalm 91 can also be referred to as the constitution of the Kingdom.

Life is filled with problems both small and big. Psalm 91 continues to be a source of strength, hope, promise and encouragement for every generation.

1. The condition

Psalm 91:1 - He who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty.

God has done His part and we must do ours. “He that swells” does not mean “visit’ but implies a permanent place and position in God’s presence.

2. Speak out

Psalm 91:2 - I will say of the lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust."

Make a declaration.

3. He is the deliverer

Psalm 91:3 - Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence.

In instances where we are unable to defend ourselves, God will defend us against, slanderous words, unfair accusations, embarrassing situations, etc.

4. Constant on-going protections

Psalm 91:4 - He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

He protects and hides us like a hen protects its chicks.

5. Protection from danger

Psalm 91:5-6 - You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

We are told not to fear anything no matter when or where it may appear. The evil one is the source of all fear.

6. Missing the target

Psalm 91:7-8 - A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.

The enemy may be a sharp shooter, but when he has you in his sights, he will miss his target.

7. Protection services

Psalm 91:9-12 - Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the most high, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone

The Lord enlists a host of protecting angels who are assigned to us.

8. Victory over the enemy

Psalm 91:13 - You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

The enemy seems to be constantly hovering over us, but he is under our feet.

9. The name of Jesus

Psalm 91:14 - Because He has set His love upon me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

The world does not know His name. We use His name to exercise authority over the enemy.

10. Know who to call

Psalm 91:15 - He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

11. Long life

Psalm 91:16 - With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation."

The enemy tries to take your life, to place sicknesses and diseases upon your body, but we have the promise of a long and successful life which continues into all eternity.
