Luke 2:1-14 The baby that changes Lives

1. The birth of Jesus Christ changes the world

• The Birth of Jesus made Changes for Mary and Joseph

• Changes for Mary were I am pregnant without an earthly Father “virgin will conceive and bear a son

• Mary’s soul enlarges God “My soul magnifies the Lord …” It’s a song about how God changes everything.

• Mary sings “The Mighty One has done great things for me,” “and holy is God’s name.”

• Mary recounts the mighty deeds of the Lord who has just intervened in her life. God has “brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly … has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty”

2. Faith Hill Country-music star tells the strangeness and the terror of Mary’s experience with these lyrics:

• “Teenage girl, much too young Unprepared for what’s to come baby changes everything

• Not a ring on her hand All her dreams and all her plans A baby changes everything …

• The man she loves she’s never touched How will she keep his trust? A baby changes everything

3. The Baby changed the Life of Joseph as well

• For Joseph Faith triumph over His doubt Joseph when he saw Mary pregnant he once thought about putting her away privately, but a messenger changed his thinking. This divine messengers informs Joseph: “The child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 1:

• Joseph before the dream he was going to put Mary away secretly because of this pregnancy.

• Joseph courage triumphs over fear Joseph is no longer afraid he travels with Mary From Nazareth to Bethlehem, Bethlehem to Egypt, Egypt back to Nazareth.

• Joseph life was turned upside down but he accepted it all Marys pregnancy, the problem of Herod the killing or slaughter of the innocence, why don’t God stop all this turmoil. The talk among the community

• So love triumphs over jealousy. Faith triumphs over doubt. Courage triumphs over fear.

4. Mary and Josephs trip to Bethlehem was filled with changes well

• Joseph, pounds on the door of every inn and guest house in Bethlehem

• Typically folks stay in an Inn but that changed for Mary and Joseph they stay in a stable.

• Normally babies were born in their homes, but that changed to: The Bible says, “And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth and laid him in a manger.” A manger — a feeding trough —But it’s the place to which the Lord has led her, so surely, it’s the right place.

5. The baby Jesus changes everything

• Mary’s baby was a miraculous conception

• Mary’s baby birth is also known as the “incarnation.” Literally, the Latin word means “in the flesh.” God, becomes birthed In Jesus, God becomes human.

• Mary’s baby saves souls He changes life those who were dead in sin he raised to eternal life

• He changed judgment, to grace acceptance and love

6. This Baby can change us as well as He changed Mary, Joseph, and the Shepherd,

• Mary was changed from nothingness to blessed "My soul glorifies the Lord 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,

• Joseph was changed from doubt to hope

• Shepherds were changed from fear to faith in the Christ Child Let the babe change us everyday
