The Anointing

Amplified bible: Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come (upon) you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.

The anointing is imperative to living a victorious Christian life..

Jesus Needed the anointing to do the fathers will and so do we.

Luke 4:18

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Acts 10:38 How God Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him

Lu 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be with power from on high.

Anoint (4886 mashach-)

to smear, to anoint, to spread a liquid

1) to smear 2) to anoint (as consecration) 3) to anoint, to consecrate

a primitive root; to rub with oil, i.e. to anoint; by implication, to consecrate; also to paint:

All through the bible they anointed with oil anything that was used in God’s service, including people

So we find that the anointing consecrates us, or separates unto a specific purpose, and that purpose is God’s service.

Next we find that the anointing speaks of fruitful, richness, ,

8081 shemen (sheh’-men);

from 8080; grease, especially liquid (as from the olive, often perfumed); < fat >(things), X fruitful, oil ([-ed]), ointment, olive, + pine.

Amplified Is 10:27 And it shall be in that day that the burden of [the Assyrian] shall depart from your shoulders, and his yoke from your neck. The yoke shall be destroyed because of [which prevents it from going around your neck].

(NIV) Isa 10:27

In that day their burden will be lifted from your shoulders, their yoke from your neck; the yoke will be broken because you have grown so .

I have said before that God is looking for FAT people

In fact he prefers Fat people

In fact it is a pre-requisite for being used by God (FAT) F =Faithful A =Available T = Teachable

In a further definition we find that the anointing makes us oily, especially ( to shine)

8080 shaman (shaw-man’);

a primitive root; , i.e. (by analogy) be (causatively, make) oily:

as the oil is the fuel that the lamp requires, so our lives require the anointing to shine with the character and power of Christ,

And like the oil comes from the crushing of the olive so our saviour was pressed in gethsemene, in order to provide us with this precious anointing,

The Anointing speaks of

The anointing speaks of endument, impartation, empowering:

5545 chrisma (khris’-mah);

from 5548; an unguent or smearing, i.e. (figuratively) the special endowment ("chrism") of the Holy Spirit:

Through the idea of contact:

5548 chrio (khree’-o);

probably akin to 5530 through the idea of contact; to smear or rub with oil, i.e. (by implication) to consecrate to an office or religious service:

(They took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus)

To furnish what is needed:

5530 chraomai (khrah’-om-ahee);

middle voice of a primary verb (perhaps rather from 5495, to handle); to furnish what is needed; (give an oracle, "graze" [touch slightly], light upon, etc.), i.e. (by implication) to employ or (by extension) to act towards one in a given manner:

The anointing follows procedure:

The anointing always starts at the head and flows down to the rest of the body.

David said: thou anointest my head with oil (The head of the church is Jesus, we derive or receive our anointing buy positioning ourselves in line with the Head, )

We receive our anointing by positioning ourselves under those whom God has anointed, such as Pastors, teachers, evangelists, prophets, apostles,

Next: we are anointed as we submit to the word of God, the spirit; the anointing is in and on the word.

If we will not submit to the word of God then we will not receive the anointing

(The spirit and the word always agree)

After David was anointed: The Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward,

The Spirit of the Lord came upon Sampson and he killed a lion, and slew a thousand philistines, and uprooted and carried the gates of the city to the mountain top.

The Spirit of the Lord came upon Elijah and he out ran Ahab’s chariot
