Summary: YAHWEH our FATHER also gets angry when we persistently do the things HE has told us not to do. HE is holy and does not tolerate sin. HE warns against sin and says there will be hell to pay.

Most of us have heard over and over again about the love of GOD. We experience it on a daily basis and we know HE is good.

Today, let us talk about the anger of The LORD. It is aptly also described as the wrath of the LORD. Imagine it. For sure you never want to experience it. It is a reality.

In the referenced chapter, The MOST HIGH declares that HE will draw HIS people into Jerusalem and melt them inside there and they will know that HE is the One who did it. HE also explains the actions they have done that are making HIM punish them. And we today are still doing these things. In fact we have devised new methods of killing, creating widows and orphans. The pastors and ministers have become innovative in violating the laws of the MOST HIGH and profaning HIS holy things. They teach that there is no difference between the clean and the unclean, blurring and even removing the distinction between good and evil. Extortion, robbery, oppression, false visions and lying divinations are rampant, yes, among the servants of GOD and in the house of GOD. And we expect to get away with it. We won’t. This has to be addressed. We need to get back to our senses quickly.

Isaiah 51:20, is a chilling verse. “Your sons have fainted, they lie helpless at the head of every street, Like an antelope in a net, Full of the wrath of The MOST HIGH, The rebuke of your GOD. “ Even here in Africa, we have not been spared the ravages of substance addiction and the problem of useless young men and women on every street. It is my opinion that this is surely a sign of The LORD’s wrath.

The anger of The LORD is described as fierce, burning Numbers 32:13, blasting Job 4:9.

The LORD also has instruments of indignation. Isaiah 13:5. Beloved, maybe the person terrorizing you is an instrument of the anger of The MOST HIGH. Repent and humble yourself before the LORD. HIS mercy is legendary. Sometimes, HE uses animals and sometimes angels like in the case of killing the first borns of Egypt and dealing with Sennacherib. 2Kings 18:13-19:37. Beloved, think twice or as many times as is necessary before doing anything that will anger The MOST HIGH. Remember , HE is The ALMIGHTY and can do as HE pleases, but HE chooses to engage with you for your benefit . HE uses HIS word which will not return to HIM void, listen to HIM and do what HE says.

Jeremiah 32: 29 warns us not to let people do wicked deeds in our houses, deeds that provoke The LORD to anger. That house will be destroyed. Not my words. Beloved, in a nutshell, stay away from sin, wickedness and wicked people.

You cannot talk about the wrath of The LORD without talking about the conditions that trigger it. In the scripture under reference one of the conditions are:

i. Grievous, persistent and widespread sin. To put it mildly, being hell bent on sinning and on angering The MOST HIGH.

ii. The lack of a person to stand in the gap and interceded for the people like Moses did. The MOST HIGH says because of this, HE will “ pour out MY wrath on them and consume them with MY fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done..”

iii. Lack of repentance

Beloved, you don’t want to experience this and neither do you want to see what this means. The children of Jacob saw this wrath and as recorded by historians it was absolutely terrible and they are yet to recover.2Kings 17:18, 2Kings 23:25-27,Psalms 78:59.

So, how about just avoiding sin and standing in the gap for yourself, your family, your church, your community, your nation and the Body of CHRIST.

One cannot talk about the wrath of The LORD, without mentioning the following facts:

i. The LORD can be provoked to anger

ii. HE warns people when HE is angry. HE sends HIS servants to warn people. But what do we do, kill them, mock them, disgrace and humiliate them or just ignore them and stare with a blank look at them. Beloved, a day is coming when to find a servant of GOD and the word of GOD will be very difficult. Let’s be nice to the servants of GOD. Let’s be nice to fellow workers in the vineyard. No need to make the ground or the work harder.

iii. When HE is angry, HE turns away and does not talk much but will listen to one of HIS children who are in right standing with HIM on your behalf. To experience the LORD turning away from you is heartbreaking and terrible. Devastating! Isaiah 54:7
