Summary: The Abundant Life

The Abundant Life

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10,

I. Facts about the Abundant Life:

A. The "abundant" life should be the normal life of

God’s children.

B. This abundant life is for every believer.

C. This abundant life is to be enjoyed now.

II. What Are The Characteristics of This Abundant Life?

A. Well-Pleasing To the Father.

"And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him." John 8:29,

B. Complete dependence upon the Father.

I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me. So I live my life in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Gal. 2:20 (NLT)

C. Complete Submission to the will of the Father.

"I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me." John 5:30

Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not demand and cling to his rights as God. He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form. And in human form he obediently humbled himself even further by dying a criminal’s death on a cross. Phil. 2:5-8 (NLT)

D. Moment-By-Moment Fellowship with the Father.

"Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear." Isa. 59:1-2

E. Constant Victory over sin and the Devil.

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." 1 Cor. 10:13

F. Abundant Peace and Joy.

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

G. Sacrificial Service.

For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many.”Matt. 20:28 (NLT)

III. How May We Live and Experience This Abundant

Life?

A. By living in dependence upon Him.

I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me. So I live my life in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Gal. 2:20 (NLT)

B. By totally surrendering To Him.

But he said, “Why all this weeping? You are breaking my heart! For I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but also to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus.” Acts 21:13 (NLT)
