Encourages believers to find hope in God's strength, heed His promises during challenging times, and honor Him through unwavering trust.
Good morning, beloved. It is a joy to be standing here before you, in this sacred space, where we gather as a community of believers to engage with God's Word. Today, we are turning our hearts and minds to the book of Jude, specifically verses 24 and 25:
"Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen."
This passage is a beacon of hope, a lighthouse in the storm, reminding us that our God is not only able, but willing to keep us from stumbling. He is our steadfast protector, our shield in the face of adversity, our rock when the ground beneath us quakes. This is the God we serve, the God we love, the God we trust.
Our first main point today is Harnessing Hope in His Strength. We live in a world that often feels chaotic, uncertain, even frightening. But we have a God who is stronger than any storm we face. He is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Our second main point is Heeding His Promises in Perilous Times. When the world around us is spinning out of control, when we feel like we're on a ship being tossed by the waves, we can cling to the promises of God. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us. He has promised to be with us in the storm.
Our third and final main point is Honoring Him through Total Trust. Trusting God completely can be a challenge, especially when we don't understand what's happening around us. But it's in those moments, when we feel like we're walking through the valley of the shadow of death, that we can choose to trust Him.
As Charles Spurgeon once said, "Faith goes up the stairs that love has built and looks out the windows which hope has opened." Our faith in God, our love for Him, and our hope in His promises, are what enable us to trust Him completely, even when the world around us is falling apart.
So let's come before God in prayer as we prepare to delve into His Word.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for your Word, which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. We thank you for your promises, which are always true and never fail. We ask that you would open our hearts and minds today as we study your Word. Help us to understand your truth, to apply it to our lives, and to trust you completely. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
Let’s get started!
In the midst of life's storms, we often find ourselves seeking a source of strength, a beacon of hope to guide us through. The world around us may offer temporary solutions, quick fixes that promise to alleviate our fears and anxieties. But these are fleeting, unreliable. They cannot provide the enduring hope and strength we truly need.
This is where we turn our gaze towards God: He is not a temporary fix, not a fleeting solution. He is the eternal source of strength, the everlasting beacon of hope. His strength is not like the strength of this world. It does not wane or falter. It does not depend on circumstances or conditions. It is constant, unwavering, and unchanging.
Leaning into God: When we talk about harnessing hope in His strength, we are talking about leaning into God, about depending on Him fully and completely. It's about recognizing our own limitations, our own weaknesses, and acknowledging that our true strength comes from Him. It's about surrendering our fears, our anxieties, our doubts, and placing our trust in Him.
Understanding God's strength: God's strength is not like human strength. It's not measured in physical prowess or intellectual capacity. God's strength is limitless, boundless, immeasurable. It's a strength that can move mountains, part seas, and bring the dead back to life. It's a strength that can sustain us in our weakest moments, carry us through our darkest days.
Our need for His strength: We live in a world that values independence and self-reliance. We're often taught that strength is about standing on our own two feet, about handling things on our own. But the truth is, we were never meant to do life alone. We were never meant to rely solely on our own strength. We need God. We need His strength.
Learning to depend on His strength: This is often easier said than done. It requires humility, surrender, and trust. It requires us to let go of our desire to control, our need to understand, our tendency to worry. It requires us to lean on Him, to rest in Him, to trust in Him.
Experiencing the hope that comes from His strength: When we depend on God's strength, we find a hope that is steadfast and sure. It's a hope that doesn't disappoint, a hope that doesn't put us to shame. It's a hope that anchors us in the storm, that sustains us in the trial, that carries us through the fire. In the book of Jude, we are reminded that God is able to keep us from stumbling, to make us stand in His presence with great joy. This is the hope we have in His strength. This is the hope we can harness, the hope we can hold onto, the hope we can depend on.
