“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:15

THANKSGIVING is a time to give thanks to God for all He is and for all He has done for us. But above and beyond all our earthly blessings let us remember to give thanks to God for the indescribable gift of His Son Jesus Christ. There is simply no way to put into words all that Christ is to us or that He has done for us. But we can say THANK YOU!

THANKS BE TO GOD - When Moses appeared before Pharaoh, God’s supremacy was demonstrated by Aaron’s rod becoming a serpent. The rods of Pharaoh’s magicians also became serpents, but Aaron’s serpent swallowed up the serpents of Pharaoh (Exodus 7:10-12). Death was swallowed up in victory!

THANKS BE TO GOD - Later, as the serpents bit the Israelites, they came to God for a cure. The Lord instructed Moses to make a serpent and place it on a pole. When bitten by the serpents, they were to look at the snake on the pole and live. The same snake, which produced death in them, became (upon the pole) their means of life (Numbers 21:4-9). Death was swallowed up in victory!

THANKS BE TO GOD - When the “snakes of life” bite you, those painful, destructive experiences, look to God for the cure. Drink the bitter cup as Christ did at Gethsemane. You will find that what tastes like death, actually produces life. Christ tasted death for us, so that when He arose, we could find life in Him. Without the cross, there can be no resurrection. As you look to God for the cure, you will discover that death has again been swallowed up in victory! (1 Corinthians 15:54)

THANKS BE TO GOD - “Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). Because we have been given the victor, our Lord Jesus Christ, we have the victory. So, when the sting of death comes your way, swallow it up. Respond with thanksgiving to God because you have the victory!
