Ten works in the Plan of Salvation!
In this outline we list 10 works that we and the Holy Spirit does in our lives as we walk in His Plan Salvation. A preacher once explained grace to me with this acronym:
God's
Riches
At
Christ's
Expense
I. God 's Grace Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
A Definition: Grace is God's unmerited favor. It is kindness from God we don't deserve. There is nothing we have done, nor can ever do to earn this favor. It is a gift from God. Grace is divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration (rebirth) or sanctification; a virtue coming from God; a state of sanctification enjoyed through divine favor.
A preacher once explained grace to me with this acronym:
God's
Riches
At
Christ's
Expense
II. The Blood of Christ. Romans 5:9 (KJV) Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
A With the shedding of His blood, there would no remission of sins.
1. The first reference in the New Testament to His blood stresses this aspect. Jesus said, at the last supper: "This is my blood of the new testament (same as 'covenant') which is shed for many for the remission of sins" (Matthew 26:28). Let no one, therefore, even count the "blood of the covenant...an unholy thing" (Heb. 10:29), for the blood of Christ is forever innocent, infinitely precious, perfectly justifying, always cleansing and fully sanctifying.
III. The Gospel of Christ. Romans 1:16-17 (KJV) 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
A. The Word of God has creative power.
IV. Calling and believing on Christ. Acts 16:31 (KJV) And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
A. He does not turn anyone away.
V. Repenting everyone Luke 13:3 (KJV) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
A. All have sinned. Rom 3:23
1. According to Scripture repentance is wholly an inward act, and should not be confounded with the change of life that proceeds from it. Confession of sin and reparation of wrongs are fruits of repentance.
VI. Confessing Christ as Lord. Romans 10:10-11 (KJV) 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
A. If we confess Him, He will confess us before the Father.
VII. Water Baptism 1 Peter 3:21 (KJV) The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
A. We show the world that we hear, believe and will follow Him.
VIII. Working for Him in our Salvation. James 2:24 (KJV) Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
A. Works and faith go together like two oars on a boat.
IX. Our hope is in Him. Romans 8:24 (KJV) For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
A. Hope brings us to Jesus.
1. Hope is like a basket that holds our faith.
X. We keep running the race. 2 Timothy 4:6-8 (KJV) 6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Conclusion: It will be worth it all when we see Jesus. This plan of God's Salvation to so great that as Paul said in: 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (KJV) 9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
