Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
We all face temptation, but through understanding our identity in Christ, trusting in God's provision, exercising wisdom, and using scripture, we can overcome it.
Imagine you're playing a video game. You're on a mission, but there are obstacles and enemies trying to stop you. That's kind of like life, right? We're on a mission to live for God, but there's this thing called temptation that tries to trip us up. Let's see how Jesus beat temptation and how we can do the same.
Temptation is like those sneaky enemies in video games. It can look harmless, but it can lead to big trouble. We've got to admit we can't beat it on our own. We need to tell God about our struggles and let Him help us.
We're on a mission to live for God, but there's this thing called temptation that tries to trip us up.
First, remember who you are. You're a child of God, loved and valued. Don't let anyone or anything make you doubt that.
Second, temptation often comes when we're looking for something we need or want. Maybe it's food, money, or the latest iPhone. But we've got to trust that God will provide what we need. He's like the ultimate power-up in our game of life.
Third, don't test God's protection by making dumb decisions. It's like jumping off a cliff in a game, hoping you'll land safely. Use wisdom, ask for advice, and pray for guidance.
Fourth, the temptation to be popular or powerful can be strong. But remember, our real worth comes from our relationship with God. We're part of an eternal kingdom that's way cooler than any game.
Finally, use the Word of God to fight temptation. It's like the ultimate weapon in our game. Spend time in it every day. Try reading a Proverb each day or follow a reading plan.
Just like in a game, the enemy won't stop attacking. So, we've got to be ready. Let's commit to spending time in the Word every day. Find a way to make it a priority. If Jesus used Scripture to beat temptation, we can too.
God, help us to beat temptation. Remind us of who we are in you, help us trust you to provide, give us wisdom, and help us find our worth in you. And give us a love for your Word. Amen.
