1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Proverbs 6:6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
Even ants teach lessons and preach sermons without saying a word.
What lessons did Jesus teach in these verses that we should all exemplify?
1. THE PRIORITY OF KINGDOM LIVING 7:53 (SEE Matthew 6:25-34)
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
2. THE IMPORTANCE OF SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE 8:1
Matthew 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
Mark 6:46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.
Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
Luke 9:28 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.
Luke 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them [to this end], that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
3. THE VALUE OF PERSONAL MENTORING 8:1
Matthew 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
IV. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF AN UNDISTRACTED MISSION 8:6
John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
22. THE GRAVITY OF A FORGIVING SPIRIT 8:9-10
He forgave these ruthless men determined to kill and the adulteress women
VI. THE PRACTICE OF A NON-CONDONING ATTITUDE TOWARD SIN 8:11
It literally means (a prohibition with present active imperative): "Henceforth no longer go on sinning."
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him (the impotent man) in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
