Summary: Signs and symbols of the Holy Spirit

Tap Inn by Gerald Van Horn

Part #3 of 5 series

Today we continue with part #3 of our series “Tap Inn to the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Before we continue, let me answer an important question for you. Here’s the question. “ Does pastor Mark speak in tongues?”

Here’s the answer : Yes. In fact, I’ve been speaking in tongues since I was 21 years old. Why? Because it is Biblical. “For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.” 1 Corinthians 14:2.

This is not some kind of weird doctrine! In fact pastor’s of some of the largest churches in America, speak in tongues.

When God’s Spirit Moves something wonderful happens:

1. The Word comes alive.

2. There are signs and symbols of renewal. They are water, wind, Dove, oil and fire.

3. There is joy. In the late eighties Bobby McFerrin wrote and preformed a little song called “Don’t worry, be happy.” Do you remember it? The message offered a great boost by saying, “let go of your anxiety and just enjoy life.” It made sense. But the real question is, how can we be happy? There is a difference between happiness and joy. Happiness ebbs and flows based on changing circumstances. A new baby makes us happy. If we wina free vacation that makes us happy. If we get a raise or promotion at work that makes us happy. But

At age 15 she began to model. At age 17 she became very successful with her modeling career. Nicole’s mother was an alcoholic. When Nicole was 17 her mother died. She was very lonely so she moved to Miami. She was very successful with her career but felt unsafe in Miami so she moved to New York City.

She was invited to all the best parties in town. She visited the night clubs and many times danced the night away. Nicole did not drink or do drugs because she saw what it did to her mother. Nicole’s goal was to become a Victoria Secret model. Once her friends were talking about how they enjoyed church music. So, they decided to visited the Brooklyn Tabernacle because of the wonderful music they had at the church. They enjoyed their first visit. On the second visit, Nicole said she felt like the preacher as preaching directly at her. She was convicted and went down to the alter and

at the end of the service she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She began to Wednesday night Bible study and was faithful to church on Sunday. Her modeling job continued. On one occasion she was modeling lingerie and felt something come over her. She didn’t like the feeling of always having to turn on the sex appeal. So, she had a meeting with her agency and told them she could no longer model lingerie

Herr agent called her and said, “we’ve got a job for you. We need models with different skin colors and you would be a perfect fit.” We just need photos of arms, legs, hands, etc. When she arrived she noticed that all the models had to be nude while having their photos taken. She was appalled and walked out on the job. That day she quit.

Nobody had to tell Nicole that what she was doing was wrong. The Holy Spirit impressed her to live a holy life before him. She needed to be Christ-like. Today Nicole serves in the ministry along side of her husband.

“As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy.” I Peter 1:14-16.

When God’s Spirit moves -3. There is joy. 4.- There is a quest for Christ likeness.

5. There is power. It is interesting that Christ’s final words before his ascension concerned spiritual power. “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:49.

Why did he say this? He knew we needed another person. We needed the Holy Spirit! Jesus knew that just the Gospel message would not be enough. He knew we would face many obstacles from Satanic strongholds that we would never evangelize the world without the power of the Holy Spirit.

God cared enough to send the very best. Believe and receive.
