And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
(Mat 16:18)
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone
which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the
corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from
you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
(Mat 21:42-44)
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
(Psa 61:1-2)
Offer the deal of preach with it.
The Burden from the last few weeks/months. Overwhelming need to Break Out. Worship screams from the depths of my soul, its screaming break, break, break, break, break. Revival will not come until we break from status quo and become broken in spirit. I’m tired of comfortable church.
We are comfortable coming into the House of God and rest on these padded pews and come expecting nothing more than 3-5 songs a fresh fire, offering and a nice sermon and altar call, hoping we will get a little blessing and be pacified with our little effort.
I’m not satisfied with were I am with God, I need to grow closer….Hey it’s not just me, but from the first time visitor to the General Superintendent of the UPCI we can all grow closer to God if we want to. But first we have to get out of the mindset of coming to church saying move me preacher or move me God and we need to find the place where we come into this house saying “I know I have to move you before you will move me”. We need to fall upon this rock.
Think back to the past few months and review the sermons that we have heard. What have you been prepared for? Being on the Audio Video team, I have the privilege to go back and look over the archives of audio files and look at the titles of sermons gone by. I have looked back all the way to the beginning of my time on the team and noticed a common theme in all the messages that The Lord has given not only myself but other ministers. The Lost Heart of The Servant, When The Earth Gets Shattered, Keepers of The Light, The Devil Slayers of Bellevue, Things Happen When God’s People Pray-Gally, It’s Time for A Break Through- Roland, You Gotta Have The Want To - Oggs, We Must Be Saved- Akers, Prerequisites of Revival-Pastor, A Breakthrough Generation, I’m going to get my own Mandrakes – SamD, Preparation For The Battle- Owens, Dare To Be Bold- Lipe, The Holy Ghost Shall- ToddSmith. If you remember anything about these messages, you will remember that they all point to giving into God’s perfect will and denying our own fleshly desires.
Psalms 51:17 says The Sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and contrite (or humbled) heart God will not despise.
We must fall upon this rock, Jesus Christ, and be broken. Great things ALWAYS happen when things are broken in the bible.
1. Mary in humility and love broke the alabaster and Jesus said that forever there will be a memorial spoken of her.
2. Gideon broke the pitchers and won the battle against the Midianites.
3. Through the broken body of Jesus, Salvation was gained for the whole world.
The “Robert” Story
His Way, Position of Preacher, Respect & Blessings that follow a child of God, but offer No Sacrifice to obtain it.. Drugs, alcohol, fornication, children married, marriage on the rocks….
If we are prideful, rebellious and follow our own will, we will have a similar life story. God’s word will crush us into a powder of our former selves. But, if we should humble ourselves through prayer and much needed fasting and fall onto HIM and His WILL, we shall be broken.
Blessings & Power Always Follows True Brokenness.
And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
(Exo 33:21)
This Rock is the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We as a church desperately need to hear His voice, see through His eyes and love with His heart, but until we try to get into that position we will be miserable and outside of Gods full blessings for our lives.
Sis Betty you said it about a month or so ago in fresh fire and read from Psalms and then said “I want to goto the rock that is higher than I”. Alarms started going off in my head as you read that scripture and God said that’s where my heart is. We need to seek to be broken in spirit by God.
