Summary: Our parable today encourages each of us to take a chance two of the talents given each f those went and gained because they used their talents. As a result, they did something where the one who hid his talent had no gains excepts lost.

Matthew 25:14-30 “Take A Chance”

1. The Bible tells us Once again the parable is representing the end time, end of life, the end ends with judgment for all people.

• The Kingdom of Heaven is likened to a man or master who set out on a journey

• He called His slave sin one he gave 5 talent, one he gave 2 , and one he gave one

• The Master says each was given according to their ability

2. It is apparent in the reading each of us have a talent

• Each of us has been given a valuable talent that God wants us to use

• In the text the one who was given 5 talents gained five more Jesus says, “Master, you handed over to me five talents; see, I have made five more talents.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things; I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’

• In the text the man who was given 2 Gained two more Master, you handed over to me two talents; see, I have made two more talents.’ 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things; I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.

• It is apparent these two used their gifts for God

• If we are followers of Jesus, then we are given the talent or Holy Spirit of God, This talent can grow, develop, mature. It’s our choice to grow, develop, and mature our talent.

• It’s obvious each of us have different talents us in the text. Notice in the text one received 5 talents, another 2, and 1. We will not all be given the same amount, the same blessings, the same skills, the same strengths, the same brain power, the same social skills. But, we have something, and that’s what matters. Use it or loose it.

3. What is our calling in life?

• Our calling is to hone our skills as a follower of Jesus We are called to be faithful servants not lazy, idol, sluggish, unconcerned,

• We are called to bury lazy, idleness, sluggishness, but not the talents given,

• We are called to Take time to worship, Love our neighbors, focus on our spiritual gifts, Be kind and helpful, and be demonstrate hospitality

• We are called to “Go” Make Disciples”

• We are called to die (take up cross), We are called to be involved in a bible preaching bible teaching church

4. The One slave was given one talent and He Hid it.

• The one who Hid the talent said, “I knew you were a harsh man so I was afraid and hid my talent, so here it is”

• The masters response is a stunner You wicked and lazy slave! 27 you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to the one with the ten talents.

• The Masters Judgment “As for this worthless slave, throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

5. I think we are to Take Risks in life because they can be rewarding

• The Master never told any of these slaves to do anything with His property

• I think they gained because they loved their master and wanted to do good for their Master

• Jesus expects us to be diligent with what we have been given,

• We Know the time is short,

• One commentator I read said, we must understand the character of the master we serve. He will punish those who do not serve him rightly — because he is just, not unjust.

• We can trust that if we are faithful servants, we, too, will be rewarded with an invitation to his kingdom.

6. Finally, Lets take some risks in Life and especially for Jesus Lets be faithful, not sluggish let’s stick together

• Professor of religion Daniel Ott said, “The message is clear,” “to take the easy road, to be lukewarm, never to take a stand, really is not to live at all. The one who buries his treasure will never gain anything. The one who is neither hot nor cold really has no temperature at all.” “You have to take risks.”

• If we bury our treasures, we will never gain anything. There is nothing wrong with using our abilities and resources in bold and risky ways,
