Introduction

Good morning church. I’m excited to see you back in worship today as we continue our series “Sweet Like Honey,” where we are taking a closer look at a few of God’s many promises in scripture. If you were here last week, we talked about the promise of divine soul-rest that comes from God. And today, we’ve got another amazing promise to dig into together.

But before we begin, I have a question for you… What’s the most amazing gift you’ve ever been given?

Even as amazing as this gift is, it pales in comparison to the gifts God gives. Things like unfailing love, forgiveness, mercy, and of course, grace. Ephesians 2:8 says “it is by grace you have been saved…” And John 1:17 reminds us that, “grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” Grace is dripping from every page of the Bible and evident in the way God loves His creation.

Grace is not only one of the greatest gifts God has given, it’s one of the most encouraging promises over our lives.

Main Teaching

As we jump into the promise today, our main passage comes from 2 Corinthians. As a brief preview, Paul is writing to the Corinthian church about a thorn in his flesh. We don’t know exactly what this thorn was, but we do know it was given to Paul as a means of keeping him from becoming proud.

This makes you wonder how many adverse situations in our lives are given in order to keep us from becoming prideful. Honestly, it’s easy to boast about how good we are when things are easy. But at some point we’ll all face adversity in our lives… Which many of us also know, develops our character and resolve.

Paul says his thorn was given to keep him humble. He even says he cried out to God, asking Him to take it away. But then, God made Him a promise. And it’s the same promise I believe God has made to all of us today, found in 2 Corinthians 12:9…

Did you hear those words today from God Almighty? “My grace is sufficient for you.” This is one of the most profound statements in all of scripture, and it applies to us today. So for the next few moments, I want to help answer this looming question: what does it mean for us practically that God’s grace is enough? Let’s find out.

Here’s the beautiful reality: when we have all we need, we don’t need to look anywhere else for satisfaction ... View this full sermon with PRO Premium
