Preach "The King Has Come" 3-Part Series this week!
Preach Christmas week
This sermon explores the concept of God's goodness, emphasizing that nothing is wasted in life as God uses all situations to fulfill His plans, and encourages believers to see and trust in this divine goodness.
Good morning church! Welcome back to week 3 of our 4 part series “Sweet Like Honey,” where we are checking out some of God’s many promises made in scripture. If you missed the last two weeks, we first discussed God’s promise to give us rest. And last week, we looked at God’s promise of grace!
It’s by grace we are saved and by grace that His strength is made perfect in our weakness. We must create space for God to do His thing in our lives. We must live by faith, walk by faith, and be willing to step out in faith. We have to learn that He is working even when we cannot see Him at work or feel His presence in the midst of adversity and suffering.
Admittedly there are many times and seasons in our lives where it’s nearly impossible to imagine things getting better. But maybe it’s not as much about things getting better, or easier, or fixed. As we’re about to learn, maybe it’s about fixing our eyes on the goodness of God.
God is not only working for the sake of staying busy, but He’s working for our good and ultimately His glory. Though it may be hard to believe at times, it’s true. But what if God defines good a little differently than we do? Here in this verse, Paul uses a particular Greek word for our English translation, “good.” The word essentially means, “good whether it be seen to be good or not.”
The thing I’m praying for is for God to do whatever it takes to get these people to a point of salvation. But what this may mean is that, in the process, there is physical or temporary hardship. Regardless of what it looks like, the important thing is for salvation to happen.
God ultimately gets the glory for every salvation, and therefore, He is still working for “good” in the process. It’s sometimes hard to see, but I want to talk a little bit this morning about God’s promise to work for good. So what areas is He working in? I think there are three we must highlight in any conversation about the promise of God’s goodness.
God is not only working for the sake of staying busy, but He’s working for our good and ultimately His glory.
The family is the starting place for most of us. We deeply care about our family, and it pains us when a family member is experiencing some level of hardship or pain. But we must continue to believe the truth that God is wasting nothing.
Even people in Joseph’s own family intended something for evil ... View this full sermon with PRO Premium
