SURRENDERED to THANKSGIVING—Psalm 100:1

Attention:

•Business retailers gear up early for Christmas.

•The shelves are beginning to get stocked with Christmas items.—Christmas trees of all sizes, colors & materials, Lights, Baking goods, Candies, Ribbons, Brightly colored packages, Santa abounds, Magazine covers depict Christmas scenes. These scenes are usually founded on cold weather with snow & winter-wear of various sorts...

•Attractive displays, dedicated to Christmas, are being assembled & filled with ‘Christmas’ items.

•They are placed strategically around the stores for maximum selling power.

•We may become bombarded with phone calls, e-mails, & texts stating the savings we can experience on ‘Black Friday’ & ‘Cyber-Monday.’

But something very important is missing. And its been happening for years now.

Where is Thanksgiving? What has happened to Thanksgiving?

Christmas reigns at the expense of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving has been overwhelmed by Christmas! And rightly so, IF ‘the push’ was based on truth.

However, because it is not based on truth, Christmas has become overwhelmed by business...& business has become overwhelmed by greed.

It appears that the reasons for True Thanksgiving have lost ground in America.

AND YET ironically, A celebration of Christmas is truly all about being THANKFUL for what God has accomplished in the birth of His Son, our Savior & Lord, Jesus Christ!

SURRENDERED to THANKSGIVING-I—Psalm 100:1-5

Need:

?Was your ‘Thanksgiving’ celebration this year Thankful?

But the real question is...

*?To Whom are you thankful?

The Psalmist expected & charged God’s people to have an attitude of thankfulness.

God’s people should be surrendered to an attitude of thanksgiving.

?What do those of us enjoy, who are indeed surrendered to thanksgiving?

People Surrendered to Thanksgiving enjoy...

**!POINT#1 was minimized to the point of mere mention—GOD's PURPOSE(The TITLE)— in favor of focusing on point#2!*

Today we’ll examine the fact that,

PROCLAIMING GOD’s GOODNESS(:1)

Explanation:(:1)

:1—“Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands.”

•NASB—“Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth.”

The center & source that ‘gathered study’, ‘gathered worship’, ‘gathered proclamation’, & overall ‘gathered ministry’ is to flow from, & the One to whom it is directed, is “to the LORD.”

• “The LORD” is named in 4 of the five verses(:1, 2, 3, 5) of this Psalm. “The LORD” is the anglicized(English) version of the Hebrew word, ‘YHWH’ or ‘Jehovah.’ And ‘YHWH’ is from the Hebrew root word, ‘To Be’—thus the designation: “I Am.’

“LORD”—hwhy Yeh-ho-vaw’—Noun Proper Deity—Jehovah = “the existing One”—1) The proper name of the one true God—1a) unpronounced except with the vowel pointings of ynda Ad-o-noy’. Strong—(the)Self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God.?From—hyh—To exist, be, become, come to pass.

•So “the LORD”, ‘YHWH’, or ‘Jehovah’–means that the God Who is the focus of ‘the Bible’, & from Whom we have ‘the Bible’, & the One this Psalm concerns, is the eternal ‘I Am’!

•And that is to say that “the LORD” referred to here, is the uncreated, ever-living God, who has continually revealed Himself to the world:...

1)Thru the first people whom He created, Adam & Eve.

2)Thru Noah & His family, who were saved out of The world-wide Flood.

3)Thru the nation of Israel.

4)Thru our Lord Jesus Christ. Who Himself being the Son of God, has the same nature, essence, & being as God the Father, & God the Holy Spirit...thus completing The Trinity.

5)Thru God’s Church—The gathering of God’s people who are His thru faith in the ministry of Christ Jesus’, culminating in His saving & securing Cross-work.

6)Thru individual believers in Christ Jesus.

:1—“Make a joyful shout to the LORD,...”

The “thanksgivings” of God’s people are worthy of being declared loudly, openly, & unashamedly(“shout”). Such a “shout”(“noise”) is inherently/‘naturally’ shared from a “joyful” heart.

Every “land” has the knowledge & capability of loudly “shouting to the LORD.” They are “all” to “shout” with a personal “joy” that is borne of “thankfulness”, & vice-versa. And that “thankfulness” begins as an inner heart-felt appreciation for the extension of God’s merciful, gracious love toward us, who are completely undeserving sinners, yet whom He ‘saves to heaven’, despite our not deserving it....Thus such people are filled with “joy” of heart & are sincerely “thankful.”

“Make A Joyful Shout/Make A Joyful Noise/Shout Joyfully/Shout for Joy”—ewr roo-ah’—Hiphil(Causative) Imperative 2nd Masc. Plural—1) To shout, raise a sound, cry out, give a blast; 1a) (Hiphil)--1a1) To shout a war-cry or alarm of battle, 1a2) To sound a signal for war or march, 1a3) To shout in triumph(over enemies), 1a4) To shout in applause, 1a5) To shout(with religious impulse), 1a6) To cry out in distress. Strong—To mar(especially by breaking); figuratively--To split the ears(with sound), i.e. Shout(for alarm or joy); a primitive root.

“All you lands.”

“All” the “lands” of “all” the earth[NASB/NIV] in their entirety, are called upon, to offer their collective “joyful shouting” & ‘joy-filled praise’ to YHWH.
