SUPERNATURAL ESCAPE

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Psalm 124:6-8

"Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth."

Supporting Texts: 1 Corinthians 10:13; Acts 12:5-11; Daniel 6:20-23; 2 Timothy 4:17-18; Psalm 91:3

INTRODUCTION:

Life often presents moments where the enemy lays traps for God’s people — physical, spiritual, financial, and emotional traps. Many times, these snares are invisible and calculated to ensure downfall. Without divine intervention, escaping such traps would be impossible.

However, as believers, we serve a God who specialises in supernatural escapes. His power breaks every snare, opens prison doors, and causes His children to walk out of impossible situations unharmed. Our God is a Deliverer, and His escape plan for His people is sure and unfailing.

Today’s sermon will reveal how God orchestrates supernatural escapes, how we can position ourselves to experience them, and how to live in the reality of divine deliverance.

1. GOD SPECIALISES IN MAKING A WAY OF ESCAPE

No trap is too complicated for God to deliver His people.

a) God Sees Every Hidden Snare

Nothing is hidden from His eyes (Hebrews 4:13).

b) He Provides Escape Routes Before the Trap Closes

God always prepares a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13).

c) He Breaks the Snares Set Against Us

The enemy’s plans are destroyed (Psalm 91:3).

d) Escape is a Covenant Benefit for Believers

Divine deliverance is our heritage (Isaiah 54:17).

Biblical Example: Lot’s escape from Sodom before its destruction (Genesis 19:15-17).

2. SUPERNATURAL ESCAPE DEMANDS DIVINE INTERVENTION

Only God can break humanly impossible barriers.

a) Human Effort Alone Cannot Guarantee Escape

Trusting in self leads to defeat (Proverbs 21:31).

b) God’s Power Opens Doors that No Man Can Shut

He alone has the keys (Revelation 3:7).

c) Intervention May Come Through Angelic Assistance

God sends help from above (Psalm 91:11-12).

d) Prayer and Praise Catalyse Divine Intervention

God inhabits the praises of His people (Acts 16:25-26).

Biblical Example: Peter’s miraculous escape from prison (Acts 12:5-11).

3. SUPERNATURAL ESCAPE IS OFTEN PRECEDED BY FAITH AND OBEDIENCE

Faith and quick obedience are critical to experience divine rescue.

a) Faith in God’s Ability Secures Deliverance

Faith pleases God (Hebrews 11:6).

b) Obedience Opens the Door to Quick Rescue

God honours swift obedience (Genesis 22:18).

c) Doubt and Fear Can Hinder Escape

Fear creates open doors for captivity (Job 3:25).

d) Spiritual Sensitivity Leads to Timely Action

Discernment is vital for escape (1 Chronicles 12:32).

Biblical Example: Joseph’s escape from Potiphar’s wife’s trap (Genesis 39:7-12).

4. GOD'S ESCAPE PLAN SHAMES OUR ENEMIES

When God delivers you, your adversaries are disgraced.

a) God Turns Their Evil Plans Against Them

He reverses evil plots (Esther 7:10).

b) The Escape Becomes a Testimony of God’s Power

Your deliverance glorifies God (Psalm 34:4).

c) God Uses the Escape to Promote His People

Deliverance often leads to elevation (Genesis 41:39-41).

d) The Enemy is Left in Confusion and Defeat

God causes their counsel to fail (Job 5:12).

Biblical Example: Daniel’s deliverance from the lions’ den, leading to his promotion (Daniel 6:20-28).

5. LIVING IN THE REALITY OF SUPERNATURAL ESCAPE

We must continually walk in the consciousness of God's protection.

a) Daily Trust in God’s Protection is Essential

Trust is key to preservation (Proverbs 3:5-6).

b) Continual Prayer and Watchfulness are Required

Watch and pray always (Luke 21:36).

c) Walking in Righteousness Shields Us from Traps

The righteous are bold as a lion (Proverbs 28:1).

d) Constant Gratitude Strengthens Our Divine Covering

Thankfulness keeps the heavens open (Psalm 100:4).

Biblical Example: Paul’s multiple escapes during his missionary journeys (2 Corinthians 11:23-27).

CONCLUSION:

Supernatural escape is a proof that our God is alive and actively involved in the affairs of His children. No matter how strategic the enemy’s traps are, God always provides a way out for those who trust in Him. Our responsibility is to stay connected to Him, stay sensitive to His leading, and stand firm in faith.

As we journey through life, we can rest in the assurance that we have a God who will never allow the enemy to triumph over us. He will continue to orchestrate our supernatural escapes to His glory.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, deliver me from every visible and invisible trap of the enemy.

2. Father, order my steps away from every hidden snare.

3. Lord, arise and break every snare set against my destiny.

4. Father, grant me divine sensitivity to discern traps and dangers.

5. Lord, let every evil plot against my life be turned into testimonies.
