SUBMISSION TO AUTHORITIES
A Biblical Perspective
Romans 13:1-7
I THE UNIVERSAL SUBMISSION TO AUTHORITY
A The unbeliever has an obligation to submit to authority.
B The believer has an obligation to submit to authority.
C The authority we are obligated to submit to is BIBLICAL AUTHORITY
II THE FOUNDATION OF AUTHORITY
A Submission is to BIBLICAL AUTHORITY
B What is BIBLICAL AUTHORITY
1 Biblical Authority is authority established by God
2 God established authority consistent with His nature – Deut 5
3 God established authority with the expressed purpose to point us to Christ – Galatians 3:24
III MY RESPONSIBILITY TO BIBLICAL AUTHORITY
A Biblical Authority is:
1 Biblically established authority
2 Authority consistent with the character of God
B I am not to rebel against Biblical Authority
1 Rebellion brings divine judgment
C I am to abide under Biblical Authority
1 Taxes
2 Respect
3 Honor
a There is no fear
b There is commendation
IV MY RESPONSIBILITY TO AUTHORITY THAT IS NOT BIBLICAL – LUKE 18
A I have a responsibility to confront biblical injustice
B I have a responsibility to CONTINUE to confront biblical injustice
C God will bring the appropriate judgment
D God is concerned with my faithfulness regarding this issue
