STOP FURTHER LOSS!
Eleazar and Ithamar
Leviticus 10:12 Then Moses spoke to Aaron, and to his surviving sons, Eleazar and Ithamar, "Take the grain offering that is left over from the LORD's offerings by fire and eat it unleavened beside the altar, for it is most holy.
13 "You shall eat it, moreover, in a holy place, because it is your due and your sons' due out of the LORD's offerings by fire; for thus I have been commanded.
14 "The breast of the wave offering, however, and the thigh of the offering you may eat in a clean place, you and your sons and your daughters with you; for they have been given as your due and your sons' due out of the sacrifices of the peace offerings of the sons of Israel.
15 "The thigh offered by lifting up and the breast offered by waving they shall bring along with the offerings by fire of the portions of fat, to present as a wave offering before the LORD; so it shall be a thing perpetually due you and your sons with you, just as the LORD has commanded."
16 But Moses searched carefully for the goat of the sin offering, and behold, it had been burned up! So he was angry with Aaron's surviving sons Eleazar and Ithamar, saying,
17 "Why did you not eat the sin offering at the holy place? For it is most holy, and He gave it to you to bear away the guilt of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD.
18 "Behold, since its blood had not been brought inside, into the sanctuary, you should certainly have eaten it in the sanctuary, just as I commanded."
19 But Aaron spoke to Moses, "Behold, this very day they presented their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD. When things like these happened to me, if I had eaten a sin offering today, would it have been good in the sight of the LORD?"
20 When Moses heard that, it seemed good in his sight.
INTRO
DEATH OF NADAB AND ABIHU
(Article written on July 27, 2021 – post the second wave of COVID 19 )
Most difficult sermon to write, I tell you I am struggling and wresting with God to kind of escape this assignment; however, I am burdened in my heart to preach this today from the chapter of Leviticus 10 where the two sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu died because they made unauthorized offering that was not commanded by the Lord. May be you ask ‘what is the big deal, why should they be killed for making an offering?’ For those of you who have not read the previous chapters where elaborate details are given of the anointing of Aaron and his four sons for priesthood. Let me just quote one scripture: Leviticus 8:9”He also placed the turban on his head, and on the turban, at its front, he placed the golden plate, the holy crown, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.” People like the crown but they don’t want commitment! Are you listening? Imagine 4 sons ordained as priests in a family! Such a privilege and honor; however, two of them trampled the love of God, dishonored God and His rules and went daringly to offer strange fire in the midst of the assembly.
When questioned about prayer life, Bible reading or when believers are questioned about their absence for early morning payer or fasting prayer by their spiritual leaders, people get offended and they immediately stop coming to church. They jump from church to church, where they can invisibly attend the service and vanish, such is the rebelliousness in the body of Christ today. ‘Don’t question me’ is the attitude! We see lot of strange fire in the pulpit, off the pulpit, prayer cells and the burning desire today is to be a celebrity with shining armor that attracts people to themselves and not to Christ. Alas!!!!!!!
GRATEFUL FOR HIS MERCIES:
What God expects from HIS children, the remnant that has escaped the COVID 19, the remnant that is alive now, the ones that has survived the plague and oxygen crisis? (Article written on July 27, 2021 – post the second wave of COVID 19 ) We have clear explanation in this chapter, listen! Leviticus 10:12 Then Moses spoke to Aaron, and to his surviving sons, Eleazar and Ithamar, "Take the grain offering that is left over from the LORD's offerings by fire and eat it unleavened beside the altar, for it is most holy.”
We need to be grateful for the people who are surviving than think of the loss, Moses who is the uncle of the dead boys demands his brother Aaron to do his duty. God did not want his priest Aaron who still had the anointing oil fresh on him to sit in a corner and mourn for his two disobedient sons but he wanted him to be a priest and do his duty.
